Ladyhawke

Ladyhawke (nee Pip Brown) from Wellington is an enthusiastic 1980s revivalist. Brown takes her stage name from the Michelle Pfeiffer 1985 fantasy flick, and her videos have that bizarro low-production-values feel of vintage MTV clips.

"Dusk Till Dawn"

"Paris is Burning" (sampling "Cars" by Gary Numan)

The Dusk till Dawn song IS really a joke song isn't it?......

I know! Those videos do not help at all. If someone told me Ladyhawke was a little known artist from my high school years, I would totally believe. Maybe the retro aspect is too literal.

I remember that movie! We named our dog after Michelle Pfeiffer's character (Isabeau). I know, I don't know what we were thinking either.

Word verification: mbaootqu. Sounds like: a cool word in an African language. Actually is: crippling anxiety and despair suffered by MBA students graduating in 2008 and 2009.
