The Kiwi take on things

- New Zealand TV One's coverage logo -

The US Consul General of New Zealand John Desrocher was just on our morning news program judging a pumpkin vs. apple pie tasting contest. The former was soundly thumped by the latter, probably because you cannot get canned pumpkin in KiwiLand.

Local reporters in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch interviewed American expats live about their presidential preferences. EVERY LAST ONE was supporting Barack Obama, with the reporters unable to locate a single McCain supporter. What does that say about how many of us came here to escape Bush's Amerika?

If that's the case, I'm thinking you can all come home after tomorrow!

So, if we send you a case of canned pumpkin, would you be able to sell it for a small fortune to all the ex-pats? ;-)

We'll be back mid-to-late next year. We're still waiting to hear if LB is needed through year-end or if we can leave when his contract ends in July.

I could make a fortune selling canned pumpkin! Turkeys are rare here as well. A small bird is close to $US80, if you can find one.
