Color pick for 2009

The Pantone Color Institute, supplier of color standards to design industries, has declared that "sunny yellow will be the influential color of 2009." Pantone's executive director, Leatrice Eiseman thinks that "Mimosa" is "just the most wonderful symbolic color of the future." Really, Leatrice? Isn't that the shade in the middle of a traffic signal warning you to apply your brakes? Well, then it is the perfect color choice for 2009! Well done, you.

So basically, Pantone is extending the 2008 color collection into 2009?

Seriously, they must have laid off half their staff due to the recession, and are now recycling last year's picks.

I do like yellow, but I'm not so sure about that shade exactly!

I'm happy about this choice....I just happen to have a collection of sunny yellow pottery.

Of course that means I'll have to pack it away in 2010!

Thats colemans english mustard.
I've got shirt that colour, it makes me look like I'm jaundiced.

Raina, you're right about the brakes thing, so predictions for 2010 are green.... accelerate as if your life depended on it and you've got a 50/50 chance of survival or, RED . Stop. JUST STOP.
Or is red the colour of 2012?
I'm just way ahead.

I used to know an interior designer who was on the board of the Color Marketing Group (color and trend forecasters). He was very old school - think Mario Buatta - and couldn't design his way out of a paper bag. Unless you wanted swags, chintz, and toile.

Those are the kind of industry "experts" doling out this tripe.

I love me some sunny yellow, but that swatch just looks... dirty somehow.

Well, I have been very attracted to buying yellow clothes while thrifting, but haven't worn them at all. Maybe I'm just subconsciously hoarding them to be splashed out next year!
