Sometimes it's a good idea to step back, take a look and remove one item. In this case, it would have been a good idea to remove about eleven. Restraint can be a good thing, otherwise I like the room.

Its weirdly menacing .
Looks like a self help group uses it for their bad furniture arranging compulsions.

I agree, it's a bit menacing.

I would like to see some lifelike child-size dolls perched at different levels around the room -- that would really pull it all together.

Seriously, wtf? What are these people reaching for? Insanity?

It makes me feel like I should pick up a paint brush and start painting...it would wig me out making me think I was supposed to be doing something with all the ladders there...I agree it totally is not working..:)

So first, like, we had one ladder, you know, but then we moved into this house with the high ceilings and all, so we had to buy a taller one in order to reach the corners. And then like, Mum and Dad moved to a condo, and they didn't need their ladder any more, so it was like, hey honey, we have three, and three's like, a colLECtion right? And as luck would have it, we actually drove past one left on the street, it was like a sign, so now, whenever we see a ladder, it's like begging to come home with us. It was my daughter's idea to paint them all like this though, because ya know, the random yellow and such wasn't really doing it for us.

Um, no. Original, but not in a good way. Loved the comment "not feeling the ladders to nowhere".

I hope this never catches on; I agree with the person that said she felt she ought to find a paintbrush and get to work.

Scaling new heights in decor weirdness.

I'm sure their designer told them it was ironic.

I was a bit confused, that's all I have to say.
Check out Blik Decals @ whatisblik.com. I think that might be what you're aiming for... I'm not sure.
I have some and they're heavenly.

Alright, time for Mrs. Obvious to weigh in. This room is a goldmine of decorating no-nos.

1. Just because a client collects something does not mean you, the interior designer, have to incorporate it. I would have begged this client to donate the ladders to her local country crap, I mean "folk art," museum.

2. Mirrors hung above eye level (see upper right) make no sense whatsoever and should never happen.

3. Big fat country stars (on the fireplace) should go away and never return.

4. Why are there two throw pillows in a basket near the sofa? Because 11 accent pillows in a room is not enough? Don't merchandise your home like your favorite local interiors boutique. A bit of open floor space allows the eye to rest.

5. Six floral arrangements in one room is five too many. It should go without saying.

6. Random fruiting (middle foreground). Sigh. I would like to string up by his or her toenails the person who started the Granny Smith apple as a decorative accessory trend.

Other than those few minor details, I have no issues with this room.

I do wonder what the two usually brilliant gals at DTI were thinking when they posted it.

Hi, chiming in from the minority. I'm not sure this is the right place for them, but I kind of like the idea.

This is the manifestation of the rakes from kelly's beach-blanket-bingo! Yep, still bad in real life.

raina - I read #4 as local inferiors boutique at first. I think it fits.
