Another one bites the dust

Meredith Publishing has announced that it will shutter Country Home magazine in March, citing a 25% drop in ad pages last year. "The shutdown of yet another shelter title has focused renewed attention on other troubled titles in the field, from Domino at Condé Nast to This Old House at Time Inc. and Country Living at Hearst."

In another cost-cutting effort, Meredith plans to move the "editorial side of ReadyMade magazine and Parents.com from New York City to the corporate headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa." And who wouldn't leap at the chance to move from the Big Apple to the Big Corncob?

So sad! If Domino goes, it will break my heart!

Seriously. The Big Corncob. *snort*

They better not touch HB or Domino! Or perhaps someone will finally come up with a way to pay for online mag subscriptions with photos galore! Doing rooms as daily blog posts or something.

This is like the music business and record stores all over again.

Perhaps Country Home went under because they think pepto pink CRACKLE paint is a good idea?

Of the two, I always thought Country Home was miles ahead of Country Living.

Sad.

Too bad! My next-door neighbor was in that magazine a few years ago, but I haven't looked at it since.
