It wasn't a good idea the first time

House Beautiful.

The TV easel contraption above is the progenitor of the hot mess below. When interviewed about the building of his Catskill country home, interior designer Newell Turner gave credit to Vincente Wolf for the idea.

*long sigh*

It again reminds me of our family motto: "If it seems like a good idea, don't do it."

House Beautiful.

P.S. Note to the crap upholsterer of the sofa above - the stripes aren't matching up.

Both rooms are already so blah that adding a hulking "quirky" element just adds insult to injury. Gross.

Yeah I just don't like that idea - either hang it on the wall or hide it. Oh not good on the stripes!

ugh I HATE that. I'm sorry, but are you putting a TV on the same level as art? I'm LITERALLY sick. ew ew. I saw that this morning and the only thing I could like in the Vicente Wolf (i normally like him, i have his book. signed.) were the glass jugs. otherwise, ew.

anything but the boob-tube as art, please!

Yes, TV as art? Please. Yes, the days of hiding the things in an armoire are gone, but they aren't art - not no how, not no way.

At least in the newer iteration the TV is at the correct angle for viewing and the easel is more substantial and less likely to be knocked over by a kid or pet.

But still fugly.

That is just butt ugly.

I gasped when I saw that the first time, rolled my eyes the second time. There is nothing stylish and/or clever about it. HB usually pleases me greatly, but this I cannot abide.

And I'll tell you the truth: I can't even get used to the 'accept your tv and leave it out' idea. it's ugly, I hate it, it's an evil necessity. give me a gorgeous mid-century console to hide the sucker and i'm happy.

oh, please also don't put your tv in a frame on the wall. what is up with THAT?

Oh, you're so right! The frame, the frame.

I hated this idea when I first saw it. Just plain silly. In reality, the cords would be nightmarish. And can't you just hear the massive crash and coinciding shreaks and obscenities when the tv falls out of that easel?

LMAO! Totally, Susie Q, totally.
