Louis + Barbie = a marriage made in brand heaven

Kartell's Louis Ghost and Lou Lou Ghost chairs for Barbie.

How does one "improve" an excessively overexposed design icon? By adding an excessively branded toy icon.

prefer them plain and simple.

I hate that they did this. Why does everything have to go the way of mass marketing!? It's not that it should be available only to an elite few, but there is something to be said for uniqueness and individuality.

So where are they going to be sold? Target or Wal-Mart?

toys r us would be a great place for them.

The first place that popped up on a Google search was Colette in France:

I'm very disappointed in Colette. Or are they being ironic?

That's it. It took Barbie to tip the scales, but I'm finally over those chairs.

I would say ironic, Baglady, if Colette didn't have an ENTIRE online Barbie shop AND download-able Barbie wallpaper. Gross.

They should've combined Louis with Casper.

They missed a golden opportunity.

I'm with HG, Casper would have been brilliant.

A Louis Ghost chair lurks in every edition of Living Etc. and Elle Decoration like some kind of postmodern "Where's Wally?"

You're so right, Mr London Street. And welcome!

Come on give barbie a break she just turned 50!

The girl deserves a really tacky chair.

Ah, but this post kind of excited me at first because I thought I might be able to get a 1/6th scale ghost chair for my dolls to have a 'design icon' (and not at vitra miniature prices). Nope. Oh well!

BTW, did you see the Barbie guest appearance on SNL last week? Look it up on Hulu... Kristen Wiig is pretty hilarious.

Raina said...

Nope, both SNL and Hulu are blocked for viewing outside of the US. I saw a still shot from the skit that looked pretty funny.
