Buh bye Zoinks?

Z Gallerie has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a California court. The chain said "it was looking to reorganize its business around its strongest performing stores and eliminate burdensome locations and assets unnecessary to the reorganization." Z Gallerie operates 57 retail stores in 18 states.

My long-standing love affair with Zoinks is chronicled here.

I know you're heartbroken, but it'll be okay, honey...I promise, and hey, there's always Orla. ;0)

I sincerely hope it goes the way of Ashwell's Shabby Crap line.

It was inevitable, what with Domino no longer around to feature some accessory or other on every third page.

Holy word verif Batman, my word is "shicrac". I so have to find a way to use that in a sentence.

this is unrelated but what's going on with the stack-of-books trend right now? i feel like every picture i look at now contains a couple feet of stacked books.

Stacked books say "Smart people buy our products."

Oh, no!! More blog fodder leaving the planet.

You'll always have Pottery Barn.

Until it files...

Why is everyone bagging on Z Gallerie? I find great accessories at Z, better than the competition anyway. Well I could go to WSH and find a similar item for several hundred dollars more...

Not everything is awful at Zoinks, Daine. But some of it truly is. A quick scroll through the link in the post will show you what I'm talking about.

I am nuts. I actually like that ship chandelier that no one likes. (I wouldn't buy it but I can imagine it having its place --maybe they'll sell it for $20 in their going out of business sale.)

I also like the white ceramic boot umbrella stand they have. (Go-Go boots for an umbrella stand!)

Some of their things are not that bad. But SO many are just puke-o-rama. I have only been in the store one time. It is very schizophrenic. I figure the buyers don't know each other or else they hate each other.
