Saturday morning at Victoria Square

It's a gorgeous fall day here in Christchurch, sunny and in the 60s. This morning we went to the town hall to pick up our tickets for tomorrow afternoon's Wiggles concert.

The town hall backs Victoria Square park and overlooks the Avon River.

We walked along the river taking pictures and enjoying an easy start to our day.

The Pea took time to smell the flowers. She suggests you all do the same this weekend...

ACK!! So jealous of the pretty scenery and ponytailed Hubby!!! We saw the Wiggles when Graham was 3... I LOVED it!!! And we scored front row seats cuz I said I had a Deaf kid when I ordered tickets...

I scored 4th row by sheer dumb luck. Don't tell anyone, but I'm excited about going.

there's an ice-milk truck that sits on victoria park -- i used to go there as a teenager in the '80's and they were still there when i finally went back to chch to visit in 2004.

the same woman serves them up from her truck at the curb; i hope you get a chance to try one before you leave. i've never found anything that tastes like those ice-milks here in california, or anyplace else i've visited in the us.

(btw, we're making a big move this summer, too -- from los angeles to vermont. we're running out of time to do and see all of the things we want before heading east -- are you guys doing the same there? or are you just ready to get the hell out of dodge?)

It's funny you should ask that. We've started doing all the tourist-y things we thought we were too clever for when we first arrived. I think we may actually take the tram around the CBD next weekend.

I didn't see any ice-milk truck, but we were there mid-morning. Before (normal) people start thinking about such things.

i remember going round town with my best friend and taking all of the touristy pics before we left in '86 -- we were giggling the whole time (oh, teenagers) but it was a good thing to do.

then there was the visit to the top of the world trade center that my visiting aunt and uncle insisted we take in the spring of 2000. at the end of the day we were really glad that we'd done it... and doubly glad 18 months later.

have fun these last months!

I was just there two weeks ago, Hmstrjam. I bought my husband a print there for his birthday.
