Too much going on there for me.

Looks awkward to me. Kind of reminds me of Jenga.

It looks cool and seems very practical, but I think it would drive me crazy and it would smell like old wood (not in a good way).

Piles of wood = bugs. I'd be fine with all the stuff on the mantel (lamp = WANT) if that was just a fireplace surround, but hollow it out and fill it with wood and I immediately go "yuck".

it would be dirty and gross in a second....

We have that fireplace insert at the other half's house. Helpful to heat a big house in a NH winter.

However, ick to stacked wood in your living room. May as well put up the Bug Motel sign.

Wood stoves can be practical for heating in certain applications....and are usually ugly. This looks great....very balanced & organic! (in all my years, I never had problems with bugs with properly dried out wood)

Does the taste of vomit in my mouth count as a thought?

Seriously though, sometimes looking good is as important as being clever.

Stacked wood ~ yes. The rest ~ no!

Love the wood being stored around the fireplace, but agree with others that the rest is too much

You know what would really make this space "pop"? Random dead animals on the wall.

Kudos to the idea, but this application is just not pretty. I do not like that stove thingy in there at all. Yuck! The surround is clever, but I'm not sure it would hold up and I can only imagine the mess. In my house, my children would surely use the logs as weapons and so instead of a lovely night spent in front of a cracklin' fire, we'd be in the ER getting stitched up.

So my long-winded thought is- uh,uh!

Hello Miss Belle and welcome to this deliciousness!

I have two of those wood insert stove thingys in my house - and I hate them both. Way too hippy-dippy for me. We use one of them, however to heat this drafty place. The other is next to my off-white oriental rug and isn't used ever.

But the wood storage. Maybe seemed like a good idea on paper, but it adds to the ugliness of the entire wood stove insert. No.

So, you're supposed to burn the mantle down, right?
