The dust settles, at least temporarily

The view off the balcony to the southwest.

Today, we moved into an apartment provided by LB's company for the next two months. It's in a beautiful area less than a quarter mile from LB's new office and about a half mile from some truly excellent shopping. Including the largest SuperTarget I've ever seen - the parking lot has numbered rows lest you forget where you placed your vehicle.

How happy are my three double chins and me?

I spent 2 1/2 hours in there this afternoon and exited with only the basics. I was so overwhelmed, I actually had to stop shopping and leave. I mean pineapple applesauce? The cleaning products area was enough to make me exhale in a low whistle. The average Kiwi grocery store's aisle would carry 14 categories in the same amount of space. Spending the past two years stuck on the ass-end of the planet nearly erased my memories of the abundance that is American retail.

I spent thirty minutes in that cleaning products aisle giddily sniffing every spritz and scrub available and in the end decided to have a lesbian affair with Mrs. Meyers.

Good Lord, I love being home.

Yummy. Glad you're having dun.

I have a moderate to severe Target addiction. I may have to try Mrs. Meyers myself. She's looking good.

But you couldn't be having dun, because you're having so much FUN. Damn you, Mike's Hard Lemonade.

The apartment looks like a really nice spot, glad you're getting settled.

I've been friends with Mrs. Meyers for a long time, you two will like each other.

I’ve been loving Mrs Meyers for ages. Geranium scent is my favorite. Welcome back to the land o’ plenty!

Welcome home! That looks like a nice apartment with a view.

I'm having the same affair with Mrs. Meyers. She smells like old lady geranium.

Doesn't it blow your mind how many things there are to buy? Option paralysis is sure to ensue.

I know where you are coming from. I live in Argentina where the stores are big and the shelves are full. Of mayonnaise or instant coffee or canned peaches..whatever container hit land this month. I go to the States every November to catch up with Santa Claus and I am always overwhelmed, especially by the entire aisle if gummy snacks/granola bars and the infinite options plastic bags and food storage.

Practically the first thing I did when I moved back to the states was go to Target and then go eat Mexican food! No mex in Wales.!

Welcome home!

Decorina said...

Pigtown, as far as I could tell there was no mex on the beast coast either. And the mex in colorado is only just passable, IMHO. I settled for occasional meals at Chili's.

When they are ready I will let LB and Raina in on some decent mex places in the Denver area.

Wow, didnt realise NZ was such a terrible, horrible place. Poor you. remember not to come back.

Decorina said...

Little defensive Sally? Missing the country you were born and raised in is not a condemnation of another country. There seemed to be much to recommend NZ from all of Raina's many earlier posts.

No worries, Sally. She's all yours, and I'm sure she'll be right.

Girl, I so know how you feel! Whenever we came back to the US from Paris even for a short visit, I'd go to the Duane Reade (drug store) just to browse at all the dental floss. I love our big ass stores! Welcome home!!!
