A French accent

What is it about the French and their seemingly effortless chic? A young couple has filled their Paris duplex with an easy mix of antiques, iconic early 20th-century pieces, and some of the best from contemporary masters - a dining table by Christian Liagre, Marteen Baas' "Smoked Chair," and Marcel Wanders' "Knotted Chair" (above). The classic bones of the apartment with its tobacco-colored wide-planked floors and delicate period moldings provide a rich backdrop for the neutral palette of new and patinated furnishings. The decorating equivalent of a 16-ply cashmere sweater and well-worn jeans.

It's genetic, I'm convinced. Drop dead gorgeous old buildings with period details also help. This is the kind of house where I want to be invited to a party.

Fucking amazing. There, I said it. You know, sometimes you can just see a place and know you would be great friends with the owners! ;0)

It's perfect, perfect, perfect and I'm downloading each one. That "easy mix" thing is so hard -- and yet these rooms look effortless. Love -- and want to copy -- this!

Gorgeous, i am loving that creamy plaster colour with black it is so warm and soothing. The french? i flippin hate them for being so stylish and cool and for making me and my home feel so inferior grrrr.

I am ALL ABOUT those floors. I'm convinced that's what I'd find if i ripped up the tack-a-lack carpet in my apartment.

glad you guys are safely in denver and let the house hunting begin! LOVE living vicariously through you on this :)
