The hunt begins

Today, I began house hunting in earnest. There are several properties I've been stalking on the internet, with two in Arapahoe Acres topping the list.

Anyone from the Denver area is familiar with this neighborhood built between 1949 and 1957. Each of the 124 homes is a mid-century jewel and they rarely go up for sale. Only two are available at the moment - 2908 S. Lafayette and 1321 E. Dartmouth. Both are far too tiny for our needs, plus LB's commute would be upwards of an hour each way.

I'm off to check out more tomorrow...

If you are interested there are other MCM neighborhoods around the Denver area.

I know Krisana and Lynwood Park have great homes, but they're too far for LB to commute.

Oooh - the first one is ADORABLE!! Bummer that it is too small (and is that NZ small or US small). I would think after NZ the houses would seem HUGE!

Can't wait to see more!

Hope your search is fun and rewarding...

Debi - US small at around 1700 sq ft. We'd like at least 2000 sq ft with 4 bedrooms or 3 plus a study.

I second Karly. That first house is incredible.

I say we break in in the middle of the night and steal House #1 and relocate to somewhere more convenient for LB's commute. Then build a little addition onto the back so you get your extra space. Bonus: already furnished! Easy peasy....

The fun part! Keep your camera with you so we can all shop along vicariously.

The Lafayette house is sweet, but I LOVE the one on Dartmouth. I'm relandscaping in my head as we speak.

Aw, come on, 2908 is perfect! It has three bedrooms, one for you and LB, one for The Pea, and one for me when I come to visit! What more do you want?

Actually, our first house was a cute little 1950's gem. We bought it from the original owner's and it was in pristine condition. Right down to the cut-out concrete block courtyard, sliding glass doors and windows, paneling, massive white brick wall of a fireplace and even original formica countertops with tiny gold starbursts included. Man, I loved that place!

Hmstrjam - We did see the big blue devil horse and heard the story of the artist's unfortunate demise.
