Subversive swirls

Elle Decor.

This is one of my all-time favorite wall treatments. Artist Nancy Lorenz applied Twombly-esque metallic resin overlays to hand-painted walls in a master bedroom by interior designer Jeffrey Bilhuber. The golden swirls break up any fussiness the grisaille may convey.

Fantastic. Makes me want to take the paint brush to my walls Twombly style.

Bring it on baby! I love the tension it creates.

I love that the swirls -- even though they are gold -- seem to break the preciousness of the hand-painted wallpaper. I have these same rooms in my design files.
