The most wonderful time of the year

I adore autumn with every fiber of my being. Summer's heat and humidity fade as Mother Nature gears up for her arboreal drag show. This will be my first Colorado fall and poor LB is facing weekend after weekend of being dragged up into the Rocky Mountains for photo ops.

This will also be The Pea's first Halloween, even though she's nearly three. Her first two were spent in New Zealand, a country which celebrates only Christmas and rugby victories.

She will be going as bumblebee in honor of her apiarist aunt (whose book is available to your left). We hope to have adopted a dog by then who will be sporting a matching costume. I'm going to borrow one of these from my sister-in-law because I roll hardcore on All Hallows' Eve.

LB will be wearing dark sunglasses and standing about 50 yards away, acting like he doesn't know us.

Colorado is the most splendid place on earth in Fall.

Your costume idea is magnificent! And I wholly support getting a dog--187% support!

Fall is the most wonderful time of year. I absolutely love the waning light and the cooler temps.
Enjoy!

It's 66F here today...fall is in the air and my disposition is sunny. I live for Fall. All two weeks we get in these parts. But I'll take it, gladly! And don't even get me started on Halloween, it's my version of Christmas. Hee hee, you know what I mean!?

The last paragraph made me lol and I'm getting my nails done right now, people lookin' at me like I'm nuts. Truth hurts. :0)

Love the costume parade! Poor LB, tell everyone his costume is that of a consumer disinterested in the plight of the dying bees.

Wish you lived closer, I would have a bag of candy for The Pea that is as big as she is. Oh, and Pop Tarts for Mom.

I can already smell Autumn here, I think I'm catching a buzz... it's my absolute fave.

love the costume ideas. I haven't given it much thought yet, but Hubs WILL be dressing up no matter how much he protests.

The high here this week is 79, fall is in the air, my fave time too. The idea to be the beekeeper is awesome. do post pics. so far, we've got a possible ghost and vampire at our house, the dudes are purists.

That picture is so beautiful it doesn't look real - it looks like a bad painting that one would expect to see hung in a nasty beige home with a funny smell.

lol - love the halloween idea! can't wait to see those pictures.

Oh and you forgot - I think they do have halloween in NZ - but really it is just another reason to drink! Not really about the costumes...lol...

oh wait - maybe that is just a standard day of the week.

OAM - We're not sure.

LB wants a big fluffy dog (we previously had a Chow mix) and I want something a bit smaller.

I'm guessing it will be whatever pup steals our heart at the shelter.

Haha, I love this! And you're so right about the kiwis - rugby victories are their main holidays :)

"Arboreal drag show." This (among other things) is why I love you.

ps: it's still 100 degrees in Austin.

I feel the same way about fall. I love that you're already dressing up the dog you don't have yet. Dogs rule. I'm so excited you're getting one.

How did I miss this post???? You hit on all my favorite things! Dogs, Halloween, Dogs, Fall, Dogs... I highly recommend a great pyr. I know they are HUMONGOUS, but they are so, so gentle and sweet and low key. And, they love little children.
