Damn. I have to squint. I was just hanging out at Atelier Abigail Ahern { http://abigailahern.wordpress.com } before dropping in and it’s all lushly cave-dark dramatic over there. Really great to see these images after those. I love both. Her moody color combinations; your clean palette.

I do like the crisp and clean look for inspiration, I guess just not in my own house. These pics are gorgeous! Is this a direction you will be taking in your own place?

I really adore subtle tone on tone contrasts- like a gray white meets a tan white, meets a white white all in the same room.

A few of those rooms employ that device devastatingly! I can't wait to see what you do to your new casa!

Anne (in Reno) - I do think I'll paint our great room a warm white (it's now a very yellow cream) and use color elsewhere. I'm still on the fence about a near-black bedroom. I'm afraid that as I get the last coat on, the trend will jump the shark.

Ita Darling - Hello and welcome to this deliciousness!

Oyyy......I am so there with you SusieQ. I feel like I have a split personality these days. Loving the white and craving the Abigail look.

Raina- What warm white would you choose?

the second photo is like, all sorts of awesome. I love everything in it. Even the rug, but how many new species of acari could develop in therE?

Anyhoo, last year one evening, my husband was away, my son was asleep, I painted my living room a warm white: Dulux's "linen". Only to discover on the next day with natural light that you cannot see the difference from the original standard white. I was not happy.

I think I will go through a huge all-white phase as soon as my kids and their grubby little hands move out!

Raina, I am with you on the black bedroom, they're so everywhere right now... but they're so cool, too! Mine is a very bright teal, which I would never expect to like, but I LOVE. As long as you really love it, to hell with jumping the shark, I say!

And Alexis, growing up, my sisters and I lived in a house with all white walls except for a big mural in our room. My dad stuck with one color from one brand for the whole house so whenever he needed to touch up it always matched (I learned this shortly after I painted my current bedroom a very bright color). So don't let kids keep you from white walls!

I want to move into #1 right now. Also, what is going on over that fireplace in the Desire to Inspire pic?

If you want a dark bedroom, I say go for it! How about eggplant? If you have smooth walls, go really dark and glossy. Yummmmmm.

Erin - Some seriously drop-dead gorgeous brickwork.

Or maybe stone work.

Ticklishfromadistance - Not sure which white I'll choose, but it will probably be from Benjamin Moore.

I love just about everything in #2, but the best is that KICK-ASS mirror. Convex/brass/asymmetrical deliciousness all over the place. hot damn!
