My Kelly Wearstler mea culpa

OK, I take it back. Everything snarky thing I ever said about Kelly Wearstler, I take back. I will no longer refer to her as "WORSTler" or make fun of her dead eyes. Well, maybe she could try to be a bit more animated on "Top Design."

Wearstler has left behind the cartoonish Hollywood Regency she foisted upon the world several years ago and embraced a contemporary Italian-esque vision of the 1970s and 1980s with references to early 20th century European ornament and sculpture.

This month's Metropolitan Home feature of Wearstler's Malibu house and her recent profile in Vogue are nothing short of seminal. A game-changer in interior design. Wearstler is ushering mid-century modern out the door.

The dining room of Wearstler's Malibu home.

A bedroom with lust-worthy wallpaper.

The master bedroom's dressing area.

A powder room.

For more Wearstler adoration, check out Erin's fab post at Design Crisis.

Saw Erin's post the other day and agree with you both now. She really has a great eye for kooky wallpaper that works. and I am lovin that dressing area so much.

Love that dining room but I have to confess I am not sold on the rest...

the lamp in the dining room bums me out but the rest is awesome to the maxx. I'm wondering if I should paint a few more metallic white stripes on my bedroom wall after seeing hers. well, you can tell me next month

What?! She has ANOTHER house? Dear gawd, I am living under a rock, and you are my only salvation!

Karly, I thought the same thing -- you're such a tastemaker, obviously. Maybe you should come over to my house and paint some stripes on my kitchen wall...

The dining room chandelier seems a trifle wee, but I LOVE the rest of it.

She's really playing with scale and shape in this Malibu house. And color is so restrained. Stunning.

Love the wallpaper.
Hate the powder room. Looks like something off a bad sci fi movie set.
