Doonan does White House decorating

So this is what Simon Doonan, Creative Director of Barneys (and husband of Jonathan Adler), was up to a few months ago when he toured the White House taking measurements - he'll be decking the halls. And the Red Room and other public displays for the holidays.

And I thought the Obamas couldn't be any more fabulous. I was wrong.

[The New York Times]

Update: The decorations are supposed to be unveiled Wednesday!

I can't wait to see what he does, it should be amazing. Yet another benefit of having a hip young family in the White House.

Now this gets even a member of the Tribe excited. How effin' fabulous! I can't even begin to imagine the glorious displays of fancy he will unleash. I hope he practiced no restraint. Wednesday won't come soon enough! :0)

ohmygod I'm not going to sleep until you post pictures of the unveiling!! I know I might be able to see them sooner elsewhere, but what's the point without your wonderful commentary??

What is Noonan draped in? I am liking this already.

Hooray! Hooray!
I actually secretly think that Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler are friends of mine. Maybe they'll do Hanukkah decorations at my house?

Erin - What I'm wishing were the White House drapes.

Alexis - Doonan and Adler are perpetually and forever on my fantasy dinner party guest list. Oh! That would be a good post...

Shut up! It's late. They are also on **my* fantasy dinner party guest list. (Except it's not in my rat hole apartment!) Seriously. I was just saying this to someone else recently. I would love to be their bestie.

I cannot wait to see your commentary on Simon's décor. Please, Simon. GO FOR IT in the way that only you can go for it.
