I'm dying to crop this...get that damn hook and chandalier out of the way. All I really want to see is the great poster and that amazing chain link table.

I've loved that image forever, thanks for showing it from a new angle!

meat-locker chic?

I'm also not really into any of the furniture in this room...

Love it except for the hook

this won't be popular but love it because of the hook.
I like the tension it creates.
And is that table made out of an anchor chain?

p.s. Raina, you're a doll for putting my site on your people who get it list!

Maybe it's because I'm a vegetarian but meat hooks are just horrifying. I don't even like it when used in kitchens. The chandy itself is awesome though.

don't mind it -but that hook is SCARY!

I love the hook. I am always a fan of using something in a way it hasn't been seen before. It's kind of weird to have that as a focal point though.

That hook????!!! *shudder*

So NOT!

ArchitectDesign - So nice to see you back!

Kate S. - You're most welcome.

Oh I love this interior. It's the home of designer Julia Buckingham Edelman from Chicago. Lots of her antique or art play with scale. And she likes some weirdness too. I like that in a designer and an interior!

you crack me up everytime, raina....but this post takes the cake!!
as for the vintage poster, i can give a quick background in case you are a tiny bit interested. it's an original advertising poster from 1960 by rene gruau, for blizzand coats. gruau was a fashion illustrator for couture houses such as dior and givenchy. when the work dried up he turned to poster art. i think it's his best work, which is why i also have it hanging in my living room....happy new year, love your blog, looking forward to more fun in 2010.

Shelley - Wow! Thanks so much for that great info. I do love that image.

Cool art image. The meat hook is just not quite right somehow!?! A bit goth!

I hate all of it. I usually like the chain table, but the finish is horrific.

I just heard from Julia Buckingham who told me that the hook is a ship’s anchor hook. She says she had to get is sharpened to slide the chandelier on. I'm a real Buckingham Inteirors fan. Take a look at http://www.buckinghamid.com/ to see all of her work. You'll like it!
