Today, I'm a Mean Girl

How is it that people hire Rita Konig to decorate their homes? Why does she have a column on a New York Times blog and why was she a contributor to Domino magazine? I mean other than the fact she has a famous decorator mother.

These are all "after" photos from The Moment blog.

You answered your own question - her mother is a famous designer - I might even pose the question: why IS her mother is a famous designer....have you seen photos of her new home, ugh IMHO

I like the table full of plants, but that's really more gardening than decorating.

As for the other two, I've seen better looking rooms at estate sales.

Puzzling.

But don't you find it totally practical to wrestle with the posts on your bed every time you want to open and close your curtains? And seriously, Raina, don't you want your sun room to look like the bargain table at a flea market plant booth? Also, I won't believe you if you tell me that you don't want lamps of mismatched height flanking a grubby chair and half empty bookshelves. Nope, I just will not believe you at all.

She can't even write worth a damn.

I keep thinking of other horrible things to say, but can't bring myself to say them... just fill in the blanks for yourselves, please.

Mmmm, but she also claims that geraniums have 'delicious smelling' leaves whereas, for me, one whiff of geranium is guaranteed to induce a nose-bleed.

That child's bedroom is truly horrendous. Emancipated minor in the making.

Boring, boring, boring. In fact, the bedroom photo looks like someone is packing to move, and the LR photo looks like they haven't finished unpacking yet.

Jodi - Yeah, that spread left me scratching my head too.

Actually, I like the table with the plants. But that's about it.

they are all fantastic "real" rooms: cozy and full of life...

not overly styled but still very chic. I am very surprise these rooms are so critiqued... They are not Mario Buatta, Peter Marino high style rooms, but they are very well done...
