Why hasn't this happened sooner?

Fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg, queen of the global nomad look, will launch a home decor line in January of 2011. The collection will include bedding, bath, tabletop, and decorative items and presumably will feature the colorful boho patterns DVF is known for. The items will be available on DVF.com and in department stores (please not Macy's!).

If you don't want to wait an entire year for some DVF-abulousness in your home, check out her collaboration with The Rug Company.

Update: SusieQ asks and I deliver - a DVF "home fashions" for Sears ad from 1982:

Jet magazine.

didn't she sell home decor items way back in the 80's? or maybe i am thinking of gloria vanderbilt? or maybe both of them did? my brain (i typed "brian") is just mush lately.

REGARDLESS....

KP - Well, not her husband. He like Teh Boyz. Allegedly.

Drollgirl - You are RIGHT. She had a home decor line with Sears (!!!) in the late 1970s. Ebay search here I come...

Oh Yes! cannot wait to see the bedding.
Wow -- and after looking through the spring collection, this is my favorite.....although it would definitely be a "top" in my case, not a dress!!

I love DVF -- her work and as a great woman. Cannot believe I didn't know about the Sears’ home line way back in the 70s. My mother thought Sears’ was all that and, when she wasn't sewing our clothes and home dec, iit was our main place to shop. { Sad tale, I know. } If you find examples of the 70s stuff, please please post it!

Karly stole my comment -- hope her designs flatter my couch as well as her va va voom dresses flatter me.

Thanks Raina! Only you could track down something like this -- you're amazing. I really thought she would have covered her 70s line in pattern. Like those wrap knit dresses. But, I'll bet for the 70s, those colors were wildly different from "white goods" available at the time.

{ By the way, my favorite childhood room makeover was accomplished by using Sears daisy-print curtains to make a partial canopy over my bed. I thought it was really cutting edge! ;-) }

I just saw DvF has a luggage collection at Macy's "color on the go".

I think the delay is because it took her this long to recover from being associated with "coordinating tank and lid covers".

OMG - I grew up with those DVF Sears towels! Uh, Mom - now we know. It's your fault I'm gay.
