Got the blues

June 1953.

Holy Mother of all that is wallpapered, upholstered, and découpaged. House Beautiful is declaring March the Month of Indigo and has posted a shelter porn-tastic slide show of blue interiors from the past 70 years. I picked a few of my favorites, and, Dumplings, you know the ones from the 1960s and 1970s make my bits tingle.

April 1966. Bargello, Bargello, BARGELLO.

April 1970. Stop it with the upholstered walls - I love you!

November 1997. Super-dee-dooper graphics.

February 1981. This room is so damn hot on so many levels.
September 1994. Timeless and beautiful.

November 1995. This could be published today and people would swoon.

March 2001. When Miles Redd was just a baby designer.

If you received your issue yesterday, I invite you to flip to page 24. HB asked several well-known designers which blue paint they use the most, and Laura Bohn proclaimed Benjamin Moore's "Newburyport Blue" her favorite for its "Japanese.. inky blue-black" quality. Ahem.

These things remind me that there were a lot of drugs in the 60s and 70s.

Well just call me down in the dumps, 'cause I'm feeling so bluesy. Fantastic round-up!
