Anthropologie is pissed!

Someone was asleep at his Anthropologie job (I'm eyeballing you, Keith Johnson) and missed a terrifically hokey home accessory bounty. Restoration Hardware's NYC Broadway location is selling Chinese clay rice bowls recently salvaged from the wreckage of a merchant ship that sank in the South China Sea over 150 years ago. Only 1000 are available and at $15 each they should sell briskly. Book your flight to the Big Apple now!

15 bucks a pop- that sounds too good to be true!?

I'm guessing they are only available in the store. It would actually be pretty cool to have one for my classroom...

These are so interesting & if cool rice bowls weren't your thing, what great gifts they would make with that kind of history. Thanks Raina!

I love those bowls. Wow! And just think... Had Keith scooped them up, he'd be pricing them at $150 each.

I'm cynical enough to wonder if this is a tiny bit of bullshit. I mean really, Resto isn't quite what my wallet calls bargain basement and only $15 for that sort of provenance? Hmmmm. I would though, since it they are only the price of a latte and a scone.

SusieQ - You are so right about that.

Lolo - I read it on the interwebs. It MUST be true.

These are very super pretty. If any of you lives in a town that has an art school, you should see if the pottery student ever have sales (usually around the holidays and close to when school gets out). You can get some gorgeous pottery for great prices. That's how I'm slowly building up my collection.

I'm glad someone shafted Anthro. They are as overpriced as UO is thrifty.

Tsk,tsk, tsk Keith! Now that is a score. Wish I was in NYC, then again, I always wish I was in NYC.

I've been thinking about this post since yesterday and while the whole ship wreck bowl brew ha ha is certainly eye roll inducing, your anthropology set up was beyond brilliant.

Just purchased some at the store itself, but Restoration Hardware is actually selling them online:
