How's it hangin'?

Jacinta Preston Designs via Desire to Inspire.

Ever since Karly's epic deck demolition project post two days ago, I have been obsessed with hanging chairs. Remember my sinking patio situation? Well, LB and I decided to cap off both the damaged upper and the just-fine lower patios, so everything will look fresh and faboo. The concrete dudes will be here either today or tomorrow to pour.

A reminder of the patio particulars.

Dumplings, you can rest easy - I will not be replacing the indoor/outdoor carpet.

Now back to the topic at hand. I doubt that I will come across a $10 deal like KP, so I've started searching for something similar yet cheap. I know it won't be the original, Nanna Ditzel's Egg Chair designed in 1959 and retailing for $3850.

This industrial version (without the dorky stand) looks interesting, if not all that comfortable.

This looks cozy but a little small for our tall family.

I hate these things. Period.

Two words - "key party."

This is the one I want with every fiber of my being, but, of course, it's no longer available.

So if anyone has any ideas or leads, I'm all ears.

Right now this minute, there's one on our craigslist. I'm breaking my 30-minutes-from-home rule and driving tomorrow to Carrollton (yikes!) to buy it for Isabel's room. I'm obsessed too.

I saw one for sale at Midland Antique Mall in Indy on Sunday. For real. It was in good shape. I didn't look at the price, but you know it couldn't have been too much. I will probably be going back there in the next day or two if you want me to check on it, snap a picture, etc.

egads! who knew my bargain chair would be such an inspiration! Ok, I kinda can't stop thinking about what I will do with all of it's hanging awesomeness.

I'm a bit perplexed, though, because I actually don't have an outdoor roof to hang it from, so if it goes outside, I may have to live with a dorky stand (gasp!)

So, should I put it outside (will the cane even survive) with a stand or should I bring it indoors and try to find a spot in my already full house?

ModFruGal - That's a beaut, but I'm looking for wicker or rattan.

RER - If have the opportunity, that would be awesome - thanks! I can remember when Midland opened. I came across many a fab find there.

CustardByDesign- "Key parties, a phenomenon in the 1970s, were sex parties attended by couples in which the men would all throw their keys into a common bowl, then their wives would pick a key out of the bowl and go home with the man whose key it was."

Rent "The Ice Storm." One of the key plot points is a key party.

MFAMB - Checked them all. The one at Target looks like a sex sling.

Alicia - I couldn't find it on the website. But if you say it's fab, then it's FAB.

Damn, I see them all the time on craigslist here, and I've come across two recently in second hand shops... if you're patient, surely one will pop up.

They go for around $100 here.

it's not on-line, but pier one has a version. I was in a hurry, so i didn't really check it out closely, so I didn't really scope out it's quality.

Design Junkie - Thanks so much! I will check it out this weekend.

Raina - we have the same taste in outdoor decor ;)

I think you are going to love this. There is a white one, suitable for indoor or outdoor (we actually have it indoors in our playroom but we're moving it out) available at IKEA. I know you have one coming to your neck of the woods. I think we paid like $50? I just can't find it on their (very crappy) website. I'll keep looking. It's not as much like a basket but it is cool nonetheless. And yes, it would be cooler in wicker but hey, it's $50.
