Random notes on a Thursday

The New York Times' The Moment blog.

Do you remember the tasty parquet floor in Stella McCartney's new Milan store? Well, here's another shot of it. You're welcome.

The New York Times' The Moment blog.

Did you know that furniture designer Vladimir Kagan's wife Erica Wilson has created twee-wonderful needlepoint kits for 40 years? I didn't.

That first one is rockin' my world.

's Style File blog is claiming that skinny jeans/pants are on the way out and a flared leg is returning. The stubby-legged women (hand raised!) rejoice.

Racked National.

In other fashion news, yesterday's eruption of Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano inspired a Reykjavik designer to create a tunic featuring a photograph of the event. Talk about fast fashion.

Côté Maison.

Is this faux wainscot made of string?!?

I might not hate doing some needlepoint with that for the final product...
Happy weekend, Raina.

pillows are yummy, with on the first one.

also flared leg is great on everyone...including us longer legged gals. although that weird mechanic style top in the photo would look horrendous on us large chested gals. i would look like a masseuse from the black forest region of germany.

string wainscotting= awesome.

Who knew that Erica Wilson who's shop on Main Street Nantucket was more than just a local shop to enjoy during the Summers?

I do like the first pillow too. The others? Not so much.

that's a lot of thoughts to digest in one post!
1- I've been interchanging skinny jeans with flaired this whole time. Trends be damned.
2- Love that floor, but still insist that I would love it more as tile. Now must convince boyfriend to include this in way-future bathroom redo.

i would like to be invited to the kagan/wilson home for the weekend. i bet they're fantastic hosts- they look so nice!
(oh, and i wear whatever pants fit me that day.)

Thank goodness the skinny jean is going away. I live in a college town where little pixies wear those things all over while I hold fast to my bootcut jeans. I'm not a big girl...I'm a size 2 or 4 and know better than to even try those things on.

Now will the leggings as pants thing go away, too? They're fine with a tunic or long sweater, but the kids here are wearing them with normal length shirts.

Flares back? Thank Gawd.

I still think that floor overpowers the actual merchandise.

Gawd, am I the most boring commenter ever, or what?

Raina, my word ver was "cobjew." I swear.

Kagans's wife is such a doll. I blogged their house a while ago and I still think about what a sweet couple they are.

Not a fan of flared jeans. I actually love the look of full on bellbottoms, but neither style is cute on us petite ladies.

How about this: everyone wear what looks best on them. I know! It's so revolutionary. I might even try it myself.

STEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAA! sweet baby jesus, i love those floors. and thanks for the heads-up on cote maison. we're honeymooning along the french coastline next year, so hopefully when we stop there, i can mind my manners and not chew on the furniture. or the string walls.
