Carrie and Big's apartment

Carrie's and Big's living room.

I know this is a loaded post. There is a lotta love out there for Sex and the City and a lot of hatin'. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past month, you know that Sex and the City 2, Electric Boogaloo opens today in theaters. Yes, I will be going (with Jamie of Sanctuary Home) and I plan on having a ball no matter the advance reviews.

Elle Decor posted a fab slide show today with photos of Carrie and Big's apartment. It's delicious, drool-worthy, and drop-dead gorgeous. I would expect nothing less.

The dining room looking through to the kitchen.

Looking into a hallway.

The master bedroom - a bit bland, don't you think?

My one beef is that they redesigned the glorious closet Carrie was gifted in the first movie. Why? It was perfect. This His & Hers is a goofy idea.

So who else is going tonight?

I love that you made the Electric Boogaloo joke. It's a classic.

that set designer sure loves graphic rugs. her last living room redo had that big puple marni rug and now this big pink flower thing. Other than that, it looks droolworthy.
wish i could see more of hat two tone kitchen. I spy an awesome tile floor.

I'm not going tonight. I will go soon, but I'm NOT happy about it. I'm afraid they just might go and ruin my favorite show.

i never really watched the show but it's fun to see all of the posts and articles on the fashion and design!

I loved the show, loved the relationships, but I despised the last movie and this one looks worse. Will I see it? Probably just for the pretty, but not in the theatre. Maybe I'll rent it and watch it with the sound off and play disco's greatest hits instead.

I saw it on Tuesday. I'm a longtime fan of yours (I loved Daily Bed beyond all reason) who can't resist anything SATC. I agree the old closet was perfect, but it was also in their old apartment, which they never lived in and sold in the first movie. I like the new one as a statement of their shared life together, if not its actual design.

I am going tonight.
I didnt love it either...

Dave - Hi ya, Hun, and welcome to this deliciousness! For some reason, I thought they kept that apartment. Cancelled the sale or something. I'm getting senile.

P.S. Sorry about flaking out on The Daily Bed. It got to be something I had to do rather than something I enjoyed.

OMG I LOVE IT!!!
Did they end up getting back "Heaven on Fifth"? At the end of the movie (the first one) it didn't seem clear whether they were able to get out of the sale of their apartment.

Can't wait to see the new movie!

ps. LOVE your blog!!!

I'm with you on the closet. It should be strictly Carrie, Carrie and more Carrie.

Not me, total stick in the mud with this movie...now if they called it an electric boogaloo for real, then maybe I would reconsider. Hate the shared closet concept...no fantasy factor there, just dumb. The rest of the apartment is ab fab!

definitely going -- just not tonight!! have a blast.

that dining room chandelier is gorrrrrgeous.

I kinda like the his and hers closet. @The Zhush, what's wrong with a his & hers?

Rachel Elizabeth - Hello and welcome to this deliciousness!

Dumplings - Just returned from the movie - LOVED IT! Yes, some of it was trite but they're my girls and I love them.

About the closet...it was revealed early on (and I'm not giving anything away) that they let the penthouse go and bought an apartment several floors below in the same building. It was GLORIOUS. I wasn't paying much attention to the dialogue because I was so focused on soaking up the interiors. And trying to figure out the designers/manufacturers.

Sarah - Whoops! Sorry, my darling, I forgot to welcome you to this deliciousness!

Excited to go soon. I love those two chandeliers. Holy cow, I want them both--BAD! And the coffee table in the first shot is great. I don't think I've seen that before.

Glad to hear you give it a thumbs up!

I think the set designer is/was Ondine Karady. Remember her from Bravo's Top Design?

erin@designcrisis said...

I loved Ondine! Her TD work was kinda lackluster, but her personal apartment is gorgeous.

Someday I might watch an episode of SATC. Someday. Maybe.

NKP and Erin - The Elle Decor article says that the production designer was Jeremy Conway and the set designer was Lydia Marks and Marks & Frantz:

I've always liked that fabric, but it isn't happy on the headboard.

It's all a bit predictable, but love Carrie though I do, she's never been a great one for decor.

The Down East Dilettante said...

PS, I'm sure the set designers were on a budget and all that, but that's a grim little assortment in the dining room shelves, grimly arranged.

Ohhh so glad to hear you liked the movie. I had so much fun and laughed out loud many many times.
I thought it was better then the first. LOVE these shots. And I agree with whomever said that fixture in the dining room is beautiful! Have to see it again to catch all the eye candy.

In all the interior photos of Carrie & Big's apartment they show everything EXCEPT the b/w picture hanging across from their bed. Does anyone know who the artist is or where I can find an image of it???!!!!
