I think it's awfully pretty, if not the slightest touch too girly. But that's just me. I would have introduced a more masculine element into the room, perhaps some hand-hewn beams or maybe a dark tile floor to ground it all. Remember that black, octagonal Mexican tile floor in a Domino room we once drooled over? Something like that.

But I love the unexpected pink couches, the touches of gold, especially in the pair of tables, and the injection of black here and there. Very nice.

Reminds me of a set from the movie The Wedding Singer. Not so nice.

I kinda like it, just not the pink couches. Thet need tobe another color.

Cashon&Co said...

I agree w/ Tonia. Exactly. I like everything but the couches--eh, maybe less mauve and less 80's? but i like the whole space!

Seems like I've been seeing walls of mirrors everywhere these days!
No thanks to the pink for me. Or the wall to wall. The rest is OK.

I like it, most of it anyway, but the carpet has got to go. I kinda like how soft and soothing it is but it's a little glam grandma and I would like it to have some more oomph.

Sarah @ Maison Boheme said...

Meh. Its a little 1980's for my taste. The colors and the mirrored walls and the coffee tables and the graphic art on the wall date it somehow.

Not something I would ordinarily gravitate to but I kind of like it. And I kind of hate it. But I find that the rooms I can describe that way are always the most comfortable for some reason...

Sarah @ La Maison Boheme - Hello and welcome to this deliciousness!

While I am sure the individual elements are well made and probably expensive, it looks cheap to me...its got that 80's medical office park vibe to it.

The first thought in my mind is cotton candy. Not in a bad way or a good way. Just cotton candy.

PS - I'm getting my "poop in a pile" this week and getting back in touch w/ you. My husband taught me that phrase this weekend.

If a room has that much pink, please don't accent with pale aqua. Looks like my grandma's place in Boca. Nelya is right. More masculine accents.

girly girly girly girly. if the sofas were gray, it would be good. love the coffee tables though..

GiniGL said...

Agree with Elisa - grey sofas = better. And get rid of the wall-to-wall. I like nkp's idea of tile floors, or ebony wooden ones.

La Dolfina said...

My first thought was mauve and the 80's... but after taking a longer look, I like the coffee tables and lamps, everything else still looks dated. What about you Raina, what do you think?
Thanks for your Mother's Day comment yesterday...
Hope yours was "deliciously" memorable!

It's the sofa's that are pushing this space a little bit to much in the wrong direction for me...maybe if the shape was different...they are too much in the way of scene stealers in all their lavenderness!

A deeper hue may have been really great...it's too cold for my tastes.

what NKP said.

also, i want those tables

BLECH! Its just too much. (and I know a thing about too much of something, its my biggest fault!) Nice elements and I'm all for pink sofas but its just TOO cotton candy sweet. The black bits seem like an afterthought.
I love the blossoms but they lose their loveliness when they are the same color as everything else.
I do love the little shots of turquoise and the dining room looks pretty classy.

I like the pink couches actually... What i dont like is the walls. I kinda hate the walls.
I really like the coffee tables too.

Oh, and I HATE the wall to wall carpeting and the pillows on the couch.
So basically, repaint, throw a rug under those coffee tables and some new pillows and we are good.

Sol Kawage said...

I love it but I would have embraced the housewifeyness totally and gone with a bold floral pattern for the couch.

DREAMER'S DEN said...

i like the art on the wall; and the tables.
nkp has the right idea about a dark floor - but the pale on pale isn't floatin' my boat.

hates:

loves:
tables
lamp

i think there is too much matchy matchy.

The Zhush said...

Reads slightly Golden Girls to me, I think its the carpet and the mauvines of the pink. In love with the tables and the sconce!

Loving the sofas. The rest is a little to pink.

La Dolfina - MFAMB pretty much summed up my feelings.

And I think I would trade a kidney for those brass tables.

am I just tired from moving a gazillion boxes or are you people smoking something?? How can anyone like this ensemble of pathetic pink???

Puhlease...I am getting diarrhea just looking at the picture. Makes me want to reach for the pink bottle of pepto....the wall sconce in the middle of the wall kills me and oh yeah..think is a desiger don't to have fake flowers AND a glass heart on the same table isn't it??

Forgive me. I am off my meds today.

The flowers are pretty....

Slightly Barbi dream house!? Kind of making me feel a bit sick. I Like the lamp behind the sofa however.

erin@designcrisis said...

i want to punch the flowers in the face and steal the coffee tables while they're not looking.
