i love a bit of neon, i do. but this room is so wrong. so, so, sooooo wrong.

my favorite and my best said...

i saw this house too on dti and the caption was like, "white sucks ass, color rules".
there is a lot wrong with this room and it has nothing to do with color.

I'm highly intrigued by that bizzaro TV stand. That IS a TV, right? Or just a gothic art holder?

This is what the inside of Tim Burton's turds look like...

This might just be the worst room image you've ever posted.

Its bad enough that its plain fugly, buts its real sin it that there is no comfy place to sit (not that you would to).

I hate it when I have to get off of my fake Louis XIV settee just to collect my glass of Southern Comfort that I just set on the coffee table.

If I'm afraid I might stumble onto a sacrificial altar somewhere in a room, then it's bad.

Hmmm. I'm almost afraid to say - I kindof like it, in a weird, Nightmare before Christmas kindof way, EXCEPT for the lights.

That said, I wouldn't actually LIVE in this room, but it might be fun to visit it once in a while, just to see what creature the owner has recently trapped in the chandelier.

This is possibly the closest approximation to what I think of the 3rd level of hell, replete with neon lighting and a miniature polar bear. Grrr.

So that's where my polar bear wandered off to.....HELL!!!

When this was posted, I think there was a note about how the owner was "afraid of white". Is that just a way to make a mish mash of color be okay?

I like creativity. I don't need everything to be clean and calm to fit my style. But this is the sort of place that shouldn't make it into a publication.

I reminds me of a NYC apartment that was posted by a guy who is GardenWeb/HGTV message board royalty. The place looked like it was inhabited by a rich hoarder (tons of stuff, but all very expensive). Everyone was swooning over the heaps of precious things.

My elegant old grandmother always said "If you can't say anything nice about a room, don't say anything at all" (well, maybe I'm paraphrasing a little.

Therefore, I'm saying nothing at all :-)

DED - I like to follow Clairee Belcher's ("Steel Magnolias") directive: "If you don't have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!"

is this a joke? it makes me think of that room in Angel Heart that gave me nightmares for years

this hurts

david john said...

is it just me or is that coffee table in the center of the room, and its terribly small?

Alexis said...

I'm very confused.

I think it's interesting that only one red wall and three of those tube lights can do this much damage. Sure the stuff is bad but the color is what is hurts my brain.

And I can't stop looking at the little bear and laughing at DDs comment for some reason ...

I love it!
because it is so "bad taste". and because it's gothy!
I have decorated like this in the past, but maybe not again in the future.

Is that animal real?

Dog? Polar bear? Large albino rat?

Clearly, alcohol was involved when making choices for this room!
