What kind of person collects these?

tonia -
the same kind of person who has a framed sign on the wall that says "buck up little pony"

I have always been an avid buyer of these eel spears---I just try never to think about how they must have looked in use, coming out of the water with wriggling, creepy eels actually speared on them.

Hand forged of thin iron, they really do make amazing sculpture

LOL, when I started my comment, there were none up, but when it posted, there were the two above. I repeat, although I find this massed display a little much (picture the CSI team trying to figure out what kind of murder weapon made that pattern of hooked holes in the body), it really is true that a single one of these---the one in the middle to be exact---can be quite a beautiful, almost medieval looking object --- not so much the curved factory made ones. As for the question of who buys these, I've actually sold a couple to very famously sophisticated people (professional discretion prevents mentioning names), who are definitely NOT the kind but 'buck up little pony' signs.

Wow. Never in my life did I expect I would write a lengthy defense of the eel spear.

I did not know they were eel speers. I guess it is because I am a southern girl and live nowhere near the ocean? Do Texas lakes have eels?

Clustres - Do Texas lakes have eels? Nope, just Bubbas in speedboats. Feel free to throw an eel spear at one though.

I see Martyn Lawrence Bullard is having a sale on One Kings Lane today. Half of the items are already sold. I am wondering if you purchased all those items? HeHeHe. I don't know, maybe you did.

I like them, can't help it. Although I'd want to put them all in a concrete urn like a big rusty bouquet.

I think a few of them would look awesome hanging down a back staircase of a coastal home.

my favorite and my best said...

cool enough.

They look scary collected like that. although a single eel spear might actually look worse.

Sharon - I saw the MLB sale advertised a few days and hopped on exactly at 9AM MST to check it all out. I liked what I saw but it was all too rich for my wallet.

I also saw that he was selling the twin plantation beds from Kid Rock's house. Interesting...

Well, an eel spear?! never seen one before, but anything that kills one of those slippery little suckers is ok with me on the annihilation factor alone
