An interiors first? A mirror framed in dried dog turds. Priceless.

Ps - so glad you did not go for too long dear.

Ok, I could keep going with those ad nauseam, but I won't. I wonder if wunderkind shop girl Lee really lives with those "pieces" or if they were merely brought in for the photo shoot. Because I saw quite a few of those "personal" items on the shop site last night. Can you say free advertising??

As for the couch? WTF? Was the cushion flipped the wrong way? Bad upholstery job? Really, not a single pair of eyes noticed that when taking the shot? Train wreck.

I've been rather mia in the blogosphere and I had no idea what all of this was until I saw the discreet image credit at the bottom. I've got to check out the rest but this doesn't leave me hopeful. (Though I do love that green bamboo mirror - I have a client with a very old mirror that came from her parents home in the exact shade and I've always loved it...)

Ok, I get it, model home. So yes, free advertising.

So glad you're back!!!

Wow, the couch is... I wouldn't even buy a dress with mismatched stripes.

I like all the wallpaper choices. I know! Even the crazy zebra. But I didn't get much sleep, so I'll check back later to see if I still agree with myself.

Just looked through the whole issue. You know it's not good when Bunny Williams' space is the least overdecorated.

Really love the cork wallcovering (but not the moose).

i ranted about zebra rugs and "hotel" bedding on mfamb, now i'd like to say how much i hate that dining room furniture and ugly tree limb thing. and i want to punch that IOU mess.

(tad bit grumpy here, too!)

Just to go against the grain of these comments, I'll say something positive: I like the use of orange.

Other than that, I got nothin. (B/C of that stupid rule of my grandmothers: if you have nothing nice to say, blah blah blah)

I totally dig the effect of the wallpaper in pic #1, but the perpendicular-ness of the pattern as you face the bed is ALL WRONG. The bed is the focal point of the room, the ceiling wallpaper should be running right up from the wall, N-S, not E-W, no?

Although maybe it was put up by the same dumb-ass that flipped over the couch cushion in pic #6.

I just don't understand the dining room picture.

I guess I need to open up Lonny and read about who these people are and why they are so proud of their homes.

The sofa cushion is definitely flipped...the wide, navy stripe on the right side of the cushion would probably match up with the middle navy stripe on the sofa.

Maybe the flip was intentional? Maybe they think it's avante guard or something like that?

i thought it was going to be just that first image, and i was coming over to write 'agreed'... but there were more, and i can still write 'agreed'. there was a bit too much - how much colour and pattern and 'eclecticism' can i squeeze into this place if it kills me - style for me this issue. not my thing.

did find the I.O.U. above the boudoir door pretty funny actually - keeping score in the bedroom is necessary in some homes i sure.

Aaaaaaaaand... NOPE.

Mad woman - I'm guided by my movie grandmother, Clairee Belcher, from Steel Magnolias: "If you don't have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!"

Kate said...

Raina, you are so on the mark with these comments. The only thing I can add is that paint by the numbers shit, "score, only ten bucks" uh...there's a reason they're that cheap. think about it. Support your local artists people!
Also, what's the deal w/Lonny's first page and the "contribute to Lonny" pink little label thingy. Is this supposed to be a charity? Put it in a magazine. I'm happy to pay the subscription just like I did with Domino... yeah, yeah, I know... but the cold hard facts are... can't stack up this shit in my cabinet with all my Dominos can I? Grrrr.

You know, now that you mention it...

Sarah @ Maison Boheme said...

Maybe this is my stupid design side (we all have one, you know), but I like the striped couch. A little zany, but cool.

Sketch42 said...

I could like some of these rooms. But Lonny has this horrible habit of not just being repetitive issue to issue (and of course being Domino's little sister) but WITHIN each issue they seem to repeat the same looks over and over.

Those crazy wallpaper bedrooms... they almost all looked the same.

Sketch42 said...

Im so happy my comments are working again!

Naomi@ThirteenandSouth said...

yea underwhelmed by this month. Some of these wallpapers made me want to gouge my eyes out. I saved about 5 images from this issue that I liked.

And the Kleihelter place just felt devoid of... something. heart?

Raina Cox said...

Louise - We're so desperate for some Domino-esque interiors, it's easy to get terribly excited when each Lonny issue comes out. But then you start really looking hard at the features, and you're like "Oh..."

Sarah - The stripes are great, it's just that they don't line up properly on the seat cushion. I'm guessing if it was flipped over, every thing would be fab because the other side matches up. I hope.

Sketch 42 - Yay! You're back.

Raina Cox said...

Naomi - I know exactly what you mean about the Kleinhelter condo (hers and the model she did).

melissa said...

And the funniest thing - on page 156/157 that poor child has hung her very beautiful, very expensive, farrow & ball wisteria wallpaper UPSIDE DOWN. All over her kitchen.

It makes me want to cry. When I'm not laughing hysterically. If I ever visited her I'd have to spend my time in the kitchen standing on my head...

If I walked into someone's house that had "IOU" above their bedroom door, all I could think of is- "you owe your lover-what a bj?"
