I kind of like it. It would be a guest room, not one that I sleep on regularly.

"Sometimes I feel like somebody's watching me"

Crap now I'm gonna have that song stuck in my head all day.

Marvellous, thankyou Tulpen, me too now.
I like it except for the masks, the crap on the sideboard, the light and the pink bedspread.

no way could i sleep with those masks staring at me! i love the two chevron-y pillows on the bed & the suzani throw (although i think it would look better in a larger size). hmm...representing lots of cultures in that room.

I am not a huge fan of the masks, but I can appreciate them for their artistry, bold impact, and graphic punch. If I had a beef with anything, it would be the nesting dolls and tea pot, now those I get culturally as they come from
my birth land, but totally out of context here. Anyway, it's a nice room. I'd visit.

LOve the bed, but who wants to sleep in a museum ?

Peony pink quilt + suzani throw + white sheets + chevron throw pillows = rock my world.
Plethora of nightmare-inducing masks = peeing in the gorgeous bed.

I like it!!! Don't know if I necessarily like it in the bedroom, but I love a mass of collected objects!

My hub finds masks creepy - that said, didn't the mask trend peak a while ago? I like everything else but would prefer a different kind of collection on the wall. I love old black and white photos - maybe old travel postcards - all mashed together. I like it when big collections give you insight into the people that live there.

I'll take the two chevron lumbar pillows and be on my way...thanks!

In our bedroom in our last house we had one of my huge paintings of my mother on the wall facing the bed. My husband could never quite get used to having my mother stare at us when we were, well, doing something no mother wants to imagine her child doing. Needless to say that painting was banned from our current bedroom.

I just would NOT be able to sleep or doing anything else with all those eyes staring out at me.....

Just noticed the expression on the mask in the upper left corner.

See above comment.

No like. not even the pillows.

This is what you get when you tell your decorate you like ethnic style? Suzanis, chevron, russian dolls, masks and who knows what that thing behind the bed is? Oy.

Oh, this is just too easy.....but let's just say I don't find this particular display does the objects justice

almost as creepy as when the dog stares at you when you're doin' it?
the bed, good.

Culture vulture.

I actually find all the disparate elements interesting, just not together, and not in a bedroom.

How to get the kids to stop sleeping in Mommy & Daddy's Room.

I have a feeling I would wake up in the night and these masks would literally scare the shit out of me.

OMG, was this a design turd's (HGTV's Design Star) white box challenge and they shopped at the import store?

No originality.

Though I do love a good gallery wall but not in my bedroom. Maybe for my mother's room? To keep her away?

if the walls go up super high i like it better.
no way around it though, it is kinda creepy.

i'm with erin. not bedroom material per se.. but if it was a combo guest BR and home office i say yes. it would definitely keep the visitors from staying extra nights. and they don't look import store- they look somewhat legit (years of living in backwater countries give me street cred for this assumption.)

Other than the crap on the table, I don't mind this so much...

drollgirl said...

i like masks and all, but that is A LOT OF MASKS ON ONE WALL. i think it could work, but they need to be rehung. something is ASKEW with the hang-job.

Marija said...

Some interesting pattern here but it's all trying a bit too hard for me. And I don't get the wall sconce. It's a total deviation from everything else...and not in a good way. Though I do like the sconce. And the simply made bed.

I have a friend with a mask collection and they are stunningly beautiful. And they're in a hallway -- not a bedroom. That would be creepy.

The white,the chevron,the pink =fab.
The masks are too many for that wall.
Being African, i can appreciate a
mask or two but not in the bedroom.
The fourth one on top left looks like a certain kind from Congo that features human teeth super scary even in the shops imagine those teeth snarling at you while you sleep.ugh!
Do you face them and get a fright every time you awaken or do you turn your back and worry about what they are up to literary behind your back?

as someone who is in the habit of checking behind the ensuite door every night before 'i lay me down to sleep'(!), i know for a fact there is absolutely no way i could get any sleep in this room.
