If I'm not allowed to hate....then I can't say anything about this.

It looks like Joseph's Technicolour Dreamcoat exploded on those walls. My kids would love it though.

Is this Crayola's new Parisian outpost? Nah, don't think so. But the furniture pieces sure do color me happy!

Yes.
Until you add furniture to the room.
In which case, NO!

For my kid's playroom? sure.

It might be cute as a set or for a store...I like the furniture.

What they did to that mirror annoys me.

Well, blinkey blonkey blimey.

As a rectangle, with other coloured rectangles put into it, I actually like it.

As a room, not so good.

Love the floor though.

At first, I was startled at why anyone would paint the wood paneled doors and walls those garish colors, but it quickly grew on me. I'm in agreement, the furniture needs to be spare. The room gives off a lot of energy and would be fun to dance, exercise, or socialize in.

I don't know... something sort of boho weirdo charming to me. Where did this come from? It's a great photo. The reflection in the mirror shows the old beautiful panels. And that floor is amazing.

Paint by number? Somehow I think that the painter must have been colourbling...

Paint sample sale?

love the colours and the combinations... that said I could not actually spend more than a minute in this room, as I'd be up and bouncing around and feeling neurotic... I admire people who can live in really colourful homes, I would be a mess...

Seems like an enormous amount of work for too little payoff.

Well gosh darnit (i've been meaning to use that expression for weeks now)I think it can work. Let's go over the top, why the hell not. The things that really do offend me are the furniture pieces. I would just furnish normally and treat the wall like a Mondrian-bumped-into-Gaudi piece.

Pretty picture, not a space to live in.

That took a lot of planning. I wish they hadn't painted the mirror.

I'm thinking it's Memphis-Milano Movemeent motivated. In that case YES. Maybe it's Ettore Sottsass' pied-à-terre? (or however you say walk-up in Italian?)

ShopMonica said...

Oooh. I'm going back and forth on this one... I like the shapes, I'd go a bit easier on the colors (use less colors), but I like the bright(hehe) idea!

Unrestrained Mondrain...
With a touch of colorblindness.

I keep flashing that Service Master (I think) TV ad where the employee screams, "WHY?? WHY!! I could have saved this one," as he embraces a discarded rug, in tears.

Sacrilege to do this to old boiserie and especially a Louis Philippe mirror. I keep thinking of how beautiful this room could have been, with that floor and the woodwork...

And somehow reminds me of Gerrit Rietveld's chair. Only the chair is good.

the floor is killing me.

i kind of like it overall.
not for me.
but it is surely happy.

i like the lamp

It's like they didn't know when to stop. If I knew that the room was going to be used by some eccentric gallery owner or artist, I could forgive it. Normal use? never.

drollgirl said...

er, inspired by childhood god's eye yarn project? i am sure that reference will go nowhere, but trust me on this one.

artluvr said...

@drollgirl, did you make yours with a popsical stick frame? ;-)

The Down East Dilettante said...

Ya know, I kinda like it. Yup, kinda do. Reminds me of stuff art student friends did with their apartments in art school two million years ago, when I was young. It's happy and got some edge.

I'm thinking no.

This would definetly solve my problem of not being able to decide on a paint color! I am all for it.
