Yeah, no.

This living room is...

...in this house.

So what's going on with lovely old homes on the East Coast?

Reminds me of the set from Bonds Dr. No! Or is that just a big 'oh no'?

He likes birds and lives with his mother ... not that there is anything wrong with that.

I love colour, pattern and texture but that hurts my eyes. Other parts of the property are interesting though. Wouldn't mind a stroll through the greenhouse.

What is with the giant clear globe? Looks like a giant "salesman of the year" kind of award.

Sanctuaryhome - Girl, you nailed it.

I count no less than 4 large differently sized balls. Why? Oh why? And the sofas I am not liking.

What a shame, it should be all neutral and rustic and organic and equestrian-ey.

Humm, I'm torn. I kinda like it.

Why do people make rooms that are purposefully unwelcoming and jarring? I don't understand it.

I like the gardens and greenhouse. I'd thin the herd garden ornament-wise, but overall it's nice. Inside it appears that he has a hard time saying no to a bargain.

I won't guess about Mr. DesRosiers, but I've known men who decorate like this, with lots of balls and repro classical statuary. Invariably they were bossy in bed, in the bad way.

you learn something new every day... like men who fill their homes with balls are bossy in bed... lol. Someone more clever than I can turn that into something witty... meanwhile, I would say that not everyone who buys a beautiful old farmhouse wants to live a romantic life... apparently.

The outside is so pretty...I'm gonna pretend that horrid room isn't really in that hpuse.

This is a just a bit too jarring in the early am.

I like it a little. Except for the big balls.

actually, as one who lives in the land of lovely old houses on the East Coast, I can tell you that this one is faring better than many---in the article it refers to the village green-like yard----I could go for that----and as for the living room, I'm with Jane---hate the Williamsburgy sofas, and the big globe would be a big distraction during conversation

oh, and as for David's remark.....um, er, um.....

It's aliens, I'm certain. How else can you explain this schlock!?!

Raina, I think the orange console is pretty yummy and the mirror and sconces over it are good too. The ball obsession makes my neck hairs stand up a little.

East coast decorating has always been a combo of granny and modern pieces and found objects.
Many people like Lauren Bacall, Gloria Vanderbilt, The Kennedys, and Truman Capote had style like this.
It may be odd to some, but I like that it is not blog trending.

As I peruse houses online for myself, I'm constantly amazed at how much bad taste there is out there. But if you can afford to hire someone with good taste, there is just no excuse for these living rooms! tha house is awesome. have a great weekend, toots! xo, s
