Damn, I die for all of the above. That is some kinda dramatic doorway. Brilliant idea to paint the inside, does that look like black wood grain to you? Hmmm....

I die. Seriously, one of my favorite images. I love the fact that they took the height of the room/doors and DIDNT try to hang something huge over the console. I think its absolutely fucking beautiful.

MFAMB- we need ur surprise... where is it babe?

Wow...beautiful. LOVE those door frames. And I agree with sketch42 - love that they DIDN'T hang some huge piece of art there. Much more unexpected this way.

Raina, you're a mass murderer. I too die for it...the restraint, the perfect furniture and objects, the easy, knowing way of putting it together...

Several years ago, I was on the building committee for our local library, a pretty little brick georgian. There were large windows on either side of the fireplaces that were to be replaced by doors into new wings. The architect drew perfectly ordinary size doors in their place. Needless to say, I insisted on LARGE openings, like these, instead.

Needless to say also, after several such incidents, the poor architect was very tired of me.

nkp - You're right about the door trim - ebonized wood. YUM.

Everyone - And this house is in Denver! It's so nice to see we can do something here other than a Tuscan McMansion or Arts & Crafts on steroids.

Another die here, for the dark floors and that console. That simple piece of furniture is harder to find than one might think. I've been looking.

Yep, those quasi-comically tall doppelganger doorways, the spidery chandelier, the propped gilt frames, the mies daybed peeking out...this is good stuff.
