The mind boggles at how hard those pumpkins would have been to carve. Happy Halloween. Will be a doing a bit of it here even though it is so not an Australian thing. xo

Hugs to the Pea...will be sure and think of you and your penchant for all things Arabo-Orientalist and filigree when next in Cairo ; )

Eff Martha Stewart. She makes me feel utterly inadequate in all areas of life. I want a frickin moroccan pumkin. I couldn't even get it together to buy a plain one at all.

Have a fantastic halloween. Hope you post pic of Pea in her sure-to-be adorable costume! Makes me want a little one...

I could like me some Halloween if everything looked like that!

The candy is as close as we get to "doing" Halloween. Yeah, I've got a few years before the Mad starts "getting" it. Yeah ME!

Have a wonderful time w/ Pea!

Oh that Martha. Trust her to give the friendly old traditional jack-0-lantern the heave.

But where you see Morocco, this antiques dealer sees her doing a tasteful riff on the pierced 19th century creamware china she used to collect. I don't think she's sensuous enough to be inspired by Morocco...but I haven't see the article, so I may be wrong

Yup, just dug through her website, past the black glitter pumpkin table settings, past the no-carve jack o lanterns, past the tasteful leaf carved pumpkins, and other places I'm usually too afraid to venture, and finally located these babies. It was the creamware. I knew Morocco was too lush for her.

But, if you see Moroccan lanterns, so do I, and that's that.

Obviously I'm a man obsessed. I just thought it through. Someone carved those freakin'gourds...someone individually, carefully, methodically, punched every one of those hundreds, nay, thousands, of little holes...

TDED - You slay me. And, I don't know why I didn't see the reference before. I guess intricate and delicate piercing always takes me to northeast Africa.
