Lilly Pulitzer lists her Palm Beach house

Lilly Pulitzer, creator of the WASP summer uniform, has listed her Palm Beach house. Topping 8200 square feet, the property is selling for $11.5 million and includes the main house, a guest house or "casita," and a pool house. The compound has 9 bedrooms and 8.3 (?!) baths total.

I would have thought it to be more Jonathan Adler than Pierre Deux meets Joe's Crab Shack.

What, pray tell, constitutes a third of a bathroom? Is it just a tiled room? (Creepy!) A room with a sink in it?

I have to say I am not impressed! I know.... the bath sounds like a sink under a stairwell?!

I am posting pink today!

one would expect a riot of color, wouldn't one? so unlike her clothing aesthetic. perhaps she is selling to more to more colorful digs? and that back yard thing is dreary, to say the least. maybe she has boat loads of parrots and flowers brought in for parties?

still, i love her.

Rebecca - I know a 3/4 bath is one with a sink, toilet, and shower. But I have no idea what .3 of a bathroom looks like.

my favorite and my best said...

Kinda of surprised but kind of not. Maybe she isn't a house person? So glad you shared though so I got to see it. Have a great weekend.

Dear Raina, Now, think very carefully. Can you really afford to let this one go?!!

If I owned a property worth $11.5 million, I would sincerely hope it looked better than that. Also, does she have a footstool fetish?

Miss Pulitzer is very old these days...she came and conquered and I bet this was the best back in the day. I guess we stick with what we like. This was probably designed during her "Glory Days"
When I saw her last Fall at a book signing she had terrible circulation problems...I figure that is the reason for so many footstools.
I bet her bank balance is very attractive!

You know I'm not a design person. But the Pepto colored couch in the first photo? Really??

Thank you for sharing these photos! I think her home is very reflective of her lifestyle....colorful, carefree and fun! XOX

PS~ It is 8 full bathrooms PLUS 3 partial baths (not .3) according to the listing.

It's absolutely Lilly. She's always maintained that she has an extremely casual style and doesn't even like to wear shoes. I think it's wonderful.

weird. I think my house looks like my clothes.

There seems to be some confusion so let me clarify: a .3 bathroom has only a bidet of sorts, which conveniently washes hands and unmentionable parts in one porcelain basin.

It has gold taps.

The room -bidetier, is the right word- is pulled together with a large mirror, a huge pendant light black walls and some potted palms, the fronds of which can be used for hand drying.

The agent at Corcoran who lost out on this listing is consoling himself with this bit of knowledge.

Yep...you are a brilliant a Wordsmith. I would think it to be more Jonathan Adler than Pierre Deux meets Joe's Crab Shack too. Kinda shocked here...although it does make sense that she is quite old now and probably didn't want to spend anymore time and money re decorating over the years.
