The world's most difficult-to-photograph wallpaper

Because you're dying to know the very latest in our master bath remodel, today I'm sharing the wallpaper choices. After selecting a paper that's not available in the U.S. (of course), I found a great substitute while shopping the Denver Design District with Jamie Foley.

Osborne & Little's "Goldini" from their Teatro collection. I've narrowed it down to two colorways - #01 on the left and #03 on the right. In this photo, #03 photographed well. The bit in the middle is the travertine plank that will cover the shower walls and bathroom floor.

In this one, #01 (left) photographed well.

Both have a hint of shimmer, but they look like foils in this shot.

So what say you, Dumplings?
The the rich drama of #01 (left) or the good match of #03 (right)?

Hmmm, I like the drama it works really well with the travertine. But it also would have a more traditional feel.

So, do you want the bath to feel traditional with drama or more calm and contemporary?

Ha! Don't you hate it when someone answers a question with a question?

Cool choices...what about..both? Rich drama on a smaller walls and good match on others?

I love the pattern and I could argue for either colorway. If forced, I would choose rich drama.

Oh, j'adore both, but....I believe I'll pull the lever for rich drama.

Rich drama, it will be gorgeous!!

I vote for drama too, although I don't think you can make a bad choice here.

I'm gonna guess either will look quite different depending on the lighting?

I'm more for the quiet drama of good matching.

I vote for #03, I think the pattern stands out and is really lovely.

Personally I LOVE #3, but as has been said before either one will look beautiful.

Both. Good Match #3 for the dominant walls, Rich Drama #1 as some sort of smaller accent.

I'm all for the drama! I like both though :-)

I like the one on the right for some reason. But either would look great!

go for the gold. I would to bathe in the gold if I could.

ps... I'm dying to know what your doing for sink/cabinetry set up!

I think #03 will have a more timeless, sophisticated appeal. It reminds me of some of the rooms I posted yesterday.

Of course, I would like to slather my entire home in #01. It is a stunning choice.

If you are leaning towards #01, have you considered BM's gold metallic paints? I know it wouldn't be as subtly "finished" as the paper choice, but it would be easy to change if you ever tired of it.

three!!!!! I can't wait to see the end result, whichever you choose

I'm all for drama but for me, looking in the mirror first thing in the morning is drama enough!

I vote rich drama

The one on the left!

number 3 for me
it has more texture and movement somehow
but I appreciate that number 1 hasn't photographed so easily so I may be wrong... they are both great.

Aren't you going to miss your funky existing wallpaper just a LEETLE bit?!!

I love #01. It feel modern, but #01 looks more expensive. Great choices by the way. M.

Sorry! I meant to say. Both feel modern, but #01 looks more expensive. Long day. M.

I like #01. The pattern stands out too much in #03. But it does matchy match the floor. But perhaps 01 picks up flecks in the floor that we really can't see here.

Anyway....I really like 01...the other is too stripey.

Its the master Frickin bath! Go Glam or go home!
LOVE the gold. And love the travertine w/it!

Damn, I wish I had your guts!

My vote definitely goes for #3. It's more calm and soothing yet has a touch of drama wihtout being too over the top. And the GORGEOUS pattern shows up better on #3. In the photos anyway...

I vote for the DRAMA. It looks much better with the travertine, too me. But I also think you can't go wrong between the two!

brismod said...

I'd do #3 out of the choices. The gorgeous travertine tiles provide the real drama anyway. x

03 03 03!!!! For sure, just in case that didn't come across in 3 votes. Once it gets all installed and happy it will feel less dramatic than a wrindkly folded sample. Gold is pretty but also a tad boring, I mean safe. Plus I'm comparing this all to the previous wall paper which I would have actually considered keeping. So maybe my opinion counts for zero haha..

Since you already got my opinion via email, I gonna vote again. I like the more subtle 03, but I know which ever you choose will be awesomeness!

Based on these photos (which might be deceptive), I say #01. The other swatch is gorgeous but seems almost too close of a match.

That said, both are beautiful papers and you probably cannot go wrong.

A Perfect Gray said...

was just wondering how the re-do was coming....these are both fantastic, but I'd say drama...

Julie @ Chapman Interiors said...

Ok I was all boozy confusey yesterday. I thought the gold was plain without any pattern at all. Now that I am coherent, I still like 3 better haha. But I LOVE drama (and I thought 03 was the one you were calling drama yesterday).. so if 01 ='s more drama, do 01. And shit, 03 is really close (too close) in color to the travertine.. But I like 03. Shoot. I'm useless.

I'll stop ruining your blog with all my confusing input..

xoxo!
