What's with the hoop skirts?

When my late, great-grandmother died, there were still hoop skirt frames stored in the cedar closets on the third floor...very odd things to save for sixty years, but it was that kind of house.

And these lampshades should have stayed in that closet. Are people truly running out of ideas for light fixtures? These are just kinda fugly

I was just over on Desire to Inspire looking at these pictures and didn't even notice the hoopskirts! But now that you mention it... WTF!

I must say I am not a huge fan of the decor in that house in general. Great house! But the overall style is.. well, not for me...

I guess I just like things a little more sophisticated. This doesn't do it for me.

A little contrived for my taste but charming just the same. Hope you're having a great week putting your bathroom back together!

Can't quite verbalize how I feel about these -- they have an unfinished quality to them that should translate as charming, but doesn't quite cut it for me.
Maybe half-assed is the word I'm looking for.

geez, didn't you just post on grannies undies used for chairs, now this fugly hoop skirt lamp. What's next? Bra cups as tea cozies? caps for the pooch?

I think I'd like just the frames by themselves. With the fabric they make me want to yell "Pantaloons!"

I don't mind them, but would pass on the idea for my own house. Gonna be one of those trends that is everywhere and gets way over done. They were cool for the first person that did it, once it is mass produced, I am over it.

No I agree with David, without the fabric they could be very interesting!

I guess if you needed a costume for a fancy dress, those lights would be handy...

It sounds like I'm in the minority, but I like them! The perfect foil for the otherwise very put together interiors above.

Didn't even notice the light fixture, as I was drooling over that closet!

As much as I've loved the emergence of pendants over islands, workspaces, etc in the kitchen - these are just annoying to me. It seems a little more appropriate in the closet, but they just don't float my boat.

Hahaha - yes indeed- WTF ????
Blegh is the only answer!

They are kind of silly ...but I can't help liking them quite a bit. Maybe because we can't wear them in real life so we have to hang them to still enjoy them.

Please don't let this be a trend.

Brought to you by your friends at Shabby Chic. I made fun of these last week. Glad that someone with actual taste agrees.
