Meet Miles

This is Sir Miles of Snortingham, our newest family member. He is 8 years old but carries himself like a pup. He had been at our local shelter for two months, we think because of his advanced age. We're tickled pink pug to have him no matter how long he's with us.

Oh lucky Miles! How fun.

Pompey sends his snuffles and cuddles to Sir Miles. And Reggie urges Raina to buy lint rollers by the carton, as that's what you'll find yourself needing to use all the time. Our dear little pug projectile sheds and one finds one's clothes (and blankets, and furniture, and carpets, and don't get me started about the inside of the car) absolutely covered with pug hair if one isn't careful! But it is but a small price to pay for the mountains of pleasure one derives from living with a pug, the dearest breed known to man. Congratulations, and welcome to the club

What a lucky dog he is! I hope the attention you slather on this pug doesn't interfere with your blogging duties.

Happy day!

Congratulations!! Pug parenting has been one of the most rewarding jobs I've ever had. Bailey doesn't shed too too much, so maybe Miles won't be too bad. Especially since he's fawn. Good for you for going thru a shelter!! That makes him even more special. And 8 is pretty young for pugs years. I've decided Bay is going to live to be at least 18.

Cooper (my dog) is very happy that you went to the shelter and he wanted me to tell you he loves little dogs if Miles needs a bud.

Oh,how sweet. I've heard that Pugs have a face only their mother could love - I guess I'm a mother. He's adorable, Raina. Congrats on your expanded family!!

Bet he has some pretty great conversations with Max about their kennels. Or do they have velvet cushions like Stanley?

You know, I couldn't love you more now. Not only are you an AWESOME interior designer and blogger genius, you've taken a dog from the shelter!

You soooo rock!

And he's DEAD CUTE!!!!

Glad you got a shelter pup!

Hooray for dogs! I luff him!

congrats to the lampshade fam on the new addition.

and thank you for adopting...and adopting an older dog to boot! Higgins was most likely not adopted right away because of how old he looks (prematurely grey at an early age like his mom). My gain and his! Please keep us updated on your new sweetheart.

Yay! I volunteer at an animal shelter and I get so excited when people go for the "older" dogs and cats.

I'm so happy for you. Mature dogs are wonderful. We've adopted older dogs before and, oh boy, it was so much easier than young dogs. Kudos to you. Miles is a lucky boy.

Lacey and littlebadwolf - Hello to both of you and welcome to this deliciousness!

Kate - We had to return Max to the shelter a couple of months after we got him. He became too aggressive with Pea and we were concerned. So it's just Miles and Magic (the cat) and they get along just fine. If anything, I think the cat is a bit disappointed Miles won't play with him. I'll be selecting a luxurious bed for Sir Miles later today.

Hey Raina, The perfect choice!...or at least I think so. My pug is a lively little black female named Bertha. Love the breed. She's my third. Kudos to you for rescuing him from a shelter. He looks in great shape, and I bet you have many years ahead with him. I know Bertha would love him. They're great with children, so your daughter must be in heaven.

Your new dog is precious! He's so lucky to have you. That speaks volumes when you adopt an older dog. Makes me cry, in a good way!

Sorry to hear about Max, but Sir Miles is going to have a super good life with Pea.

house things - Hello and welcome to this deliciousness!

Newell Turner - You, Sir, are a double rainbow of fabulousness beaming down onto La Lamp Shade. And of course you have a sweet pug girl - I'm discovering it to be a very distinguished club.

Anyone who rescues an animal...well they are just darn special. One life saved....check.

Hello Miles!!! Marcel is not a fan of dogs but he is very happy to hear that a four-legged friend has been brought home from a shelter to bring joy to humans.

I always think pugs are going to talk to me - they have so much personality (and I guess I've seen Men in Black a coupla times) - enjoy your new addition!!

dwr said...

I've never understood why people wouldn't adopt older rescues. They're usually already trained and housebroken. If they're a smaller breed like handsome Mr. Miles, they're going to live many, many more years. My shelties were 7 and 8 when I got them and lived each to 16.
