Schnozz is OUT

Hearst Magazines announced today that Stephen Drucker "has left" his post as Editor-in-Chief of Town & Country magazine after less than a year. ZOWEE - that was fast! I wonder if this month's issue was the nail in Drucker's employment coffin. Two of the articles are "I Wish I'd Married Rich" and "The Top Divorce Lawyers." Oh, and the issue was wrapped with the biannual T&C Weddings supplement. Passive aggressive hatred of your advertisers much?

Given Drucker's oddball good-bye Editor's Letter in his last issue of House Beautiful, I'm thinking he must have wigged out in a major way. Anyone out there have the scoop on what really happened?

I am very interested and curious why he had left his position in a magazine such as T&C.

What happened, WHAT happened, WHAT HAPPENED? I need some dirt. Underage interns? Subtle bribes of grasscloth and ikat? I don't know for certain, but I blame Hu Jintao. It's a chinoiserie conspiracy. Sarah Palin told me so.

He wasn't able to increase the subscriber base and his newsstand sales were even worse than before, reaching their nadir with the cover of Nora Ephron and Ina Garten.

Granted, he really hadn't had much time to improve things, but he also rubbed a few of the right people the wrong way.

Insiders are saying that Drucker's partner is a backer of Ina (has been ever since Drucker featured her back at Martha) and that the shameless promotion of the chef which lines his pockets is what did him in. The January cover was the final straw. Is what they're saying.
