Sessy kitchen is sessy + randomness

Sweet Julio Iglesias on hot buttered toast. This kitchen is about to do my head in. Wee bricked barrel vaults, Iberian cement tile floor, sliding glass-paned goodness.

*sigh of ecstasy*

Randomness from today... I took The Pea shopping, which is becoming more and more of a headache. We visited Anthropologie's homewares sale section which sucked harder than an AVN award winner. The Pea announced loudly "I hate this store!"

*lovely*

We moved on to Urban Outfitters where she kept picking up their most inappropriate merchandise and nearly broke a bobblehead doll - Bradley Cooper's character from "The Hangover". I bought the Missoni-esque Zig Zag pillow (above).

*a friend (female) of a friend slept with Cooper once and said he was awesome in the sack - so much for those geyh rumors*

After being checked out by a handlebar moustache-ioed hipster at UO, we headed across the street to West Elm. One of my buddies works there and showed us all of the new spring merchandise. The one item I'm hot-in-that-spot for hadn't arrived yet. I did pick up the horse bank (above right) for a song. $10, down from $25. I told The Pea it would be her tzedakah box.

*the idea of saving money to give to someone in need totally escapes her*

When we returned home, I had the most amazing invitation waiting in my inbox. I'll tell you Dumplings more when the details are confirmed. That makes the second piece of fab news I have to share with you in the very near future.

*EXCITING!*

Wow, shopping with The Pea must be fun as hell! Dude, I need to get me some kids. BTW, LOVE that kitchen, what is it about a tiled ceiling that makes me pant?

That kitchen is sooo YES.

Except for the frosting on the doors with the clear border. If you're going to frost, go. all. the. way., no?

love that pea hates anthropologie, tell her welcome to the club. i don't hate it, just the fact that all their clothing is made for anorexics. I was eyeing that horsie bank today online! oh to be able to walk into west elm in person. so spill the beans...who's the invite from?

Arrrgghhh - have I mentioned my issues with instant gratification, followed closely thereafter with nosey-ness?

Your shopping trip sounds All. Too. Familiar.

*also, giving you due props in t-morrow's post.

Okay, I'm kind of in love with this post.

Trust La Lampshade to wow our pants off on the rebound ;)

Shopping with the Pea sounds rather familiar except with less breakage than usually occurs when my kid's along for the ride.

In truth, your excursion sounds like my idea of a perfect day -- pretty places were seen, goods were perused, pillows were purchased, Pea went along...it's all poyfect.

Love the neo-Missoni pillers, love that the Pea sort of hates Anthro (damned skinnies and over-priced merch!), totally digging the WE table and the very un-piggy bank.

On a final note, if you can't take the heat, then stay out of that kitchen -- cuz it's sizzling.

Such a small world...my younger sister who's had an on again/off again/on again relationship with a close relative of one of BC's Hangover castmates once said she guessed as much after meeting him!

As for the other stuff...like the horse...Anthro didn't have any good BoHo chic today or was Pea shopped out!?

Ha ha - you bring back very scary memories of shopping when my kids were at the "I wonder if this would break if I pick it up?" stage. Sigh... Hang in there! It does get WAY better, although then they actually want you to buy the stuff as they get older... so maybe littler is better??? BTW - love the kitchen - so deliciously unpredictable and a whole lotta rustic.

You had me @ that kitchen floor! West Elm for spring is looking darn good. But as good as your news?!! Good news is always exciting.

Now that's a European kitchen....love it....and as far as your good news...hurry up...instant gratification queen here..... ;)

Michelle - It's the bricks and the barrel vaulting. ;)

KellyMelly - Exactly!

Appletree - Patience, my Sweet. I have to make sure everything is in place, then I'll be happy to share.

Sherri - A highly regarded company.

Acanthus and Acorn - The Cherry Creek Anthro's sale room was lookin' very sad today. I saw one pillow I liked, but the price was still too high.

LOVE those kitchen sliding doors. And your pillow. Where will you put that Missoni-like beauty?

Oh girl. that kitchen. The most amazing ceiling ever.
Then they go and add in the fabulous, unusual cabinetry and just to rub it in my face, the tile. Lord, the tile.

I'm powerless over a barrel vault, anywhere, in any finish. The tiles and beams just make it that much better.

Haven't been here in a while. That was stupid of me. Won't make that mistake again. Your funny.

NEWS!!!

Oh, and shopping with Ike has always been horrific. Can't wait until he can voice his displeasure in a pointed verbal capacity.

OMG..we all need some good news! [can't wait to hear].Love the rest of the photos, the post, etc, but stumped on the Bradley Cooper thing. A friend of friend slept with him? GOD.

I love your humor!!! So glad you're back (although I thought it was some weird sort of Blogger error when you left...)
As a fellow lover of barrel vaults (and groin vaults), I am loving that kitchen too.

Your shopping trip sounds really sweet. I'll trade you any day of the week!

Hope your job search is going well - is that the second piece of good news you mentioned??

Kate said...

Whats a groin vault? Sounds uncomfortable.
Love that ceiling, love that cushion, want the money box. To save for others, of course.

Raina Cox said...

Rachel - The second piece of news involves travel. And that's all I'm saying until the details are hammered out.

Kate - A groin vault is a double barrel vault:

oh my god, was that MY friend? Did I tell you that story? If so, that poor girl has no idea HOW much mileage I have been getting out of her circa 2004 Bradley Cooper hookup.

Also, SO excited to hear all your good news...
