She bop

I picked these up this afternoon. In a few moments, I will shut myself in the bedroom and enjoy dirty decorating thoughts...

Sounds like a plan. A very good plan indeed.

I've been itching to get my hands on a WOI. I think it's time to scratch that itch.

BTW, so this was the "errand" you were running this afternoon? ;0)

There is something indescribably delicious about having a fresh pile of decorating magazines. I could have saved thousands of dollars in my life by having subscriptions to the various titles and waiting for them to appear in the mailbox, but I love stumbling across them at the news stand and buying them there. Happy reading! And hope you're feeling well.

Hmm, I don't know Belle...should I feel dumb? Love World Of Interiors. I was staying in London 2 years ago in a small hotel that had a fabulous totally English sitting room/bar/dining. Picture dark walls, orientals, tons of newspapers, open bar on walnut chest, fireplace crackling, art and antique collectibles everywhere, and giant victorian windows over-looking the busy street below. Now visualize about ten people between the ages of 20 and 27 having a "light as a feather stiff as a board" go of it on the coffee table (remember that lift a person with two fingers game?) They invited us to join their little get together. It turned out to be a house party weekend for the editorial staff at WOI. It really threw me off...I pictured sophisticated looking 30 to 60 somethings. My son and I stayed up with them til 3am...memorable.

Kathy - Oh, how FABULOUS.

And Belle is an Aussie shelter mag. It can be hard to come by in the US. It's quite fantastic, almost as good as Vogue Living Australia.

My oh my,

What a menage-a-trois that must've been ;P
LOVE Belle.
Hope it was as good for them as it was for you.
Cheers, Alcira

1. Everything Topaz said.

2. Lucky, lucky Kathy. I think I'm going to do nothing but hang around dark little London hotels and see if lightening strikes twice.

3. Interested in hearing what you think about why the frick they bothered haul in a bunch of stuff to try to recreate the furnishing of Nancy Lancaster's drawing room, complete with blown up photographs of the original portraits (sheesh), when there are only about 12 million zillion photos of it already with the REAL stuff in it. What that about? It would have been more fun, admitting that the furnishings are gone, to re-invent it by doing a shoot with some uber modern edgy stuff in the iconic space. But what do I know? It's almost the only time I've ever questioned how WOI spent its money and editorial space.

As for those Elizabethan portraits, the originals are now in Annette de la Renta's library.

It's funny, when I was growing up in the 80s Belle was the bee's knees of shelter mags Down Under. It stumbled badly in the 90s and nowadays Vogue Living Australia has double the readership of Belle (and deservedly so, imo). Its slowly getting its mojo back which is nice to see, although if you're going to subscribe to an Aussie mag I'd still pick VLA.
