As important as solving world hunger

Do the monograms clash with the Hermès "H"s?

The throw down of the Hermes throw seems gratuitous to me. Doesn't enhance the bed.

Yes it does.Hahaha.

It doesn't work for me!

You got that "desperately seeking status look" right!

But sometimes on a shoot a bed needs a blanket and time is running out, grab the Hermes regardless and just go for it.

hah! they totally clash, though.

off with her head, that's awful.

Why yes, I believe they do. And for that matter, why does every pillow case need its own identification?

Too many letters hurts my brain.

oddly, I think the scalloped/greek keyishness of the black design on the shams SORT OF grounds the "H"s. I mean it clashes, but it's not hard to look at. Or I'm a nut job.

Perhaps -- but you know, there's something about unabashed quality and attention to detail, however un-matchy, that seems to work. This isn't a look I would particularly plan out or go for, but I'm also fine widdit.
The sheets are definitely the girly yin to the H-yang.

Rich people are so insecure.

I really detest the Hermes fetish, and I've never liked monograms on ANYTHING. So this double annoys me.

Love both separately the bedding just needs a different throw!

I can see the Hermes thrown over an armchair!

The crime is definitely excess and clashing initials. Oh my. Committed right before our very eyes.

Unless your name begins with the letter H, I think this is just a "hey look at how much I overspent" kind of moment. I don't like the color, the texture or the H. They could have done sooo much better.

there is no need for endorsing a product that doesn't pay you to.

I actually said that to a sales clerk at Louis Vuitton last weekend and realized I'm outnumbered. EVERYTHING was covered in LVs. Even worse one I hit Gucci.

It's tacky.

Now, the monogramming I love because I'm a preppy Rhode Islander at heart.

100 % agree with design junkie. that is the best answer for the day.

I hate monograms. I don't have any trouble remembering what my initials are, so I don't need my silver, towels, bed linens or cushions to remind me. And I really don't understand why those Hermes blankets are popular - they're so ugly!

Rebecca (Reluctant Floridian) said...

Perhaps more subtle: a sign above the bed declaring "I spent a grand on a MF-ing blanket."

Monogramming will always be OK for me, though I find the placement of those monograms a little odd (so high!) and I think a stack of pillows is overkill. Do the boudoir pillow or the Euro sham or the standard sham. All of them, however, just looks like you're worried you might forget your initials.

Unless you're in the military and living with 100 other people there is no need to put your initials on your crap.

And the hermes blanket looks bad.

* ... OMG, "MY EYES!!! MY EYES!!!"...

OK, so I just haaaave to leave "MY 2 cents worth", only to find that basically we ALL agree...

I'll just go ahead and say it, tho... T*A*C*K*Y!!!... OVERKILL on the monograms~~ and if you HAVE to "show off" with a $1500 blankie, please just put it at the FOOT of the bed... (you know, like you really might actually "need/use" it!) ~~~ annnnd, the color combo??? Yep, you said it... "EWWWW!"...

Other than THAT, I D*O LIKE the "white" (but that's all!)!!! Smiles n' grins,

My comments always seem to be way off of what others say :)

Shoot, my original comment didn't post. That's what you get by using a phone. Anyway I meant to say that the "H" would be ok if there was no excess of piping on the pillows. Or just pillows themselves without the exuberance of Hermes throw.

Not a fan of the combination. In fact not crazy about the strong scallops with the tufting. I see these linens with a much more minimalist design as the accent - here they're just competing. And I think the blanket should be folded at end or on a chair or chaise.

they just need to stencil an alphabet border on the walls to make the room complete..

I just don't understand the whole Hermes blanket fetish. It's an orange blanket with some H's on it. And it costs money. Okay. What else? Does it clean the dishes for me? Gives me pleasant dreams? Helps me lose the last ten pounds?

For me, it's so wrong it's right. I like the graphic play of the scalloped pillow embroidery and the headboard. I like the chocolate and camel and that grape monogram is so irrelevant it is brilliant. Luxury at this level is highly overindulgent so I don't mind that it looks it.

We love our monograms in the south but this just doesn't work together!

David said...

I'm just not a big fan of monograms unless its like your grandfathers cigarette case or something.

Teri said...

Yes, yes it does.

Does this qualify as a white person problem?

Acanthus and Acorn said...

Totally! The blanket was the star. A simple trim or none at all would have been perfect for the rest of the bedding in my mind.

Julie @ Chapman Interiors said...

As a matter of fact, I do think they clash. If the Hermes was black and white it would've had a better shot at working out. Or if the border on the sheets was tan.. Not a fan of the scalloped sheets, not one bit.

must be folks around who have to be reminded who they are and where they shopped when they wake up.

hee hee, I love your snark. If I ever had the money to buy a lovely H blanket.. I would hear you in my head and I would never be able to love it. Oh hell.. I would anyway, I just wouldn't tell you! xo
