Guess who?

 Paramus, NJ concept store.

A major women's fashion retailer is experiencing something of Renaissance, and I am ON BOARD.  For those of you who guessed Talbots, you win a car!  OK, not really.

Spring 2011 campaign with Julianne Moore.

For as crazypantsoutthere as I love my interiors, I am très conservative when it comes to dressing.  Odd, I know.  I get as worked up over a new Talbots catalog as others do over Net-a-Porter's latest offerings.  In the past year, the Big T has revamped its line-up aiming for a younger shopper.  Think J.Crew before it went off the be-ruffled deep end a couple of years ago.

So for those of you who have skipped by the Red Door thinking it only for those possessing dusty ovaries, take another look.  You just might be surprised.

Agreed, I always worry when I like something that only my grandmother liked a few years ago that it isn't getting cooler, but that I am getting old. Perhaps in this case, it is a little of both.

I bought a few very cool skirts there for holiday parties this past season....received many compliments and shocked drop-jaw stares when I mentioned from whence they came.....here's hoping they don't pull a Crew and out do themselves.......k

Will look on your advice. Definitely one of my mom's old haunts, and has been avoided for years...

The only problem with a revamped Talbots? Where the hell will Brett and I buy gift cards for his mother now?

David - Chico's. They'll never change.

dusty ovaries...lol..i will say that i have never shopped there before. I always thought the clothes were a bit to mature for me. Even when I worked.

That's "my" mall! I can't tell you how many nights I spent at the Garden State Plaza as a kid. When I go back home, I have to go there. I'll have to go check it out the next time I'm up there.

I went into Talbots last year for the first time since I was a kid and tagged along with my mother. I was desperate because all of my normal "go to" spots for work dresses shortened their hems. I work in academia and wearing gauzy dresses from Anthro doesn't fly. Ann Taylor, Banana Rep, and J. Crew were my staples before skirts and dresses started hitting mid-thigh. Talbots definitely has dresses and suits that I can wear.

Unfortunately, their sizing is a little funky, but I'm going to give them another try.

I have always appreciated their classic look, but they did start to get a little "grandma" there for a while. Glad to hear they are giving themselves a facelift all over the place, will have to check them out next time I am at le mall.

my grandma is a die-hard talbots fan, but as a 25 year old woman, i'd have to fall to the floor with convulsions for a salesperson to acknowledge my presence. i really would buy some of the dresses and shoes if anyone would pay any attention to me in there.

so for now, i stay in j crew's brightly colored, ruffly clutches.

Talbots? Really? I try to get my mom in there, she critiques them much and touches everything and talks about how simple it is to make it. But seriously, Talbots this is quite modern for the old ladies in Derby Hats.

Not very odd at all, actually. Unlike rooms, I find bodies very challenging to decorate, whether it's mine or someone else's.

I'm just glad you're singing the praises of Talbots instead of fucking Anthropologie. Anthro = Pottery Barn for bodies.

Will give it another look...based on the "be-ruffled deep end" assessment of JCrew!:)

Well, whadya know? Good for them. Now, I won't cringe so much when my MIL offers to "spiffen" up my wardrobe with their offerings.

i was in talbots on my annual buy my mom who has everything a gift card to her favorite shop and..i almost fell over.

talbots actually had several things that i would have loved to own.

i couldn't decide it they had updated or that fashion had moved more in their direction....

when the catalogue came in the mail, glancing at it, it thought it was anthro..

Ugh... I still shop at abercrombie and AE everyone always talks about how great anthro and JCrew is, guess I'm way behind on this one. Oh well maybe one day.
