Laid up

When it rains, it pours.  After battling the stomach flu and and a still-lingering hateful cold, I've managed to tear my right calf muscle.  The muscle has been bothering me for five weeks, alternately feeling stiff or pulled even though I've done nothing to injure it.  Late yesterday afternoon as I was walking down a flight of stairs at home, I felt a godawful pop and fell to my knees.  The ER staff found my Achilles to be in good shape but were concerned about the recent history.  So I've contacted an orthopedic surgeon and we'll see what happens.

I'm enjoying a generous Percocet prescription and some rest.  Today will be spent snuggled in my flannel sheets reading this book - everything you ever wanted to know about the history of home life.  It's a brilliant and fascinating read.  Two thumbs and an elevated leg up!

Oh no Raina, get better soon, the drugs help! I don't usually tell everyone about my dramas, because there are so many, Ha!

You've given me a reason to tell the most recent. At the Nelson-Atkins Museum Friday night, had a yummy dinner at Rozelle Court, then while looking at some favorite works of art. went down some short flights of stairs with my friend.

My leg buckled out from underme. Fell, (yet Again!)on my right foot twisted behind me....a long enuf story cut short I have a badly sprained ankle all wrapped up and in an air cast!!!

feel better soon! Ice, elevate, compression rest. Gravity is not your friend when swelling is present. Keep off your feet.

I knew there would be repercussions from that pole dancing class we took in NYC...

Hope you are feeling better soon (for-real better, not just percoset better). I had not heard of that book but now that I have read the synopsis on Amazon I am intrigued. I love his travel writing.

You have way to much fire to be out for long. We can wait. Good luck!

What the what? That is no bueno! So sorry to hear about it, and hope the ortho doc says it's not too terrible. This certainly calls for some percocet-induced blog binges.

Ugggh! So sorry. That sounds awful. Hopefully the Percocet is taking the edge off. My husband loves Bill Bryson's books - I need to read the ones we have lying around the house. I'm always too busy reading blogs!

Do, do take care and get some rest.
So sorry to hear you've had this setback.
Enjoy the read -- three cheers for escaping the virtual world for a spell ;)

Hi Raina - I feel your pain! I do have a funky pair of crutches going cheap if you need them! I'm hobbling around without them now so look at me go (slow).

On the up-side I made sure I enjoyed every moment of resting...caught up on old movies (Geeze, An officer and a gentleman is racey), books, even listened to a whole cd all in one sitting.

Go girl...

I have totally fucked my leg up today walking the kids to school. Exercise is evil. PS I would leave Mr Woog for Mr Bryson in a second.

Oh no! Percocet and a great read aside, that really sucks! Hope you are literally back on your feet again soon! I had heard great things about this book, and then promptly forgot all about it...thanks for the reminder!
