Is Glam Hobo the newest trend?

The Riley ottoman, $2898.

Sorry, no marvelous made-up fairy tale backstory comes with this Anthropologie piece.  Just a canvas patchwork top on a lucite base.  So is Glam Hobo a yes or a no-bo?

Hey you can go to Goodwills and buy a bunch of blazers cut that shit up and sew you a new cracked out looking ottoman.

No.

Love the lucite base...the patchy top, not so much...and the crazy price.
Oh well, one out of two.

Agree with nanne. It would look so much better with a great fabric - a beautiful floral or a velvet. No to the patches. Hell no to the price either way.

HAHAHA!
The responses are too funny.
For me.
No.
It looks intentionally effortless (paradoxical...i know).

I'd have to vote "no-bo." Sorry, Anthro.

I agree with Mr Goodwill Hunting... they are trying too hard and it's not all that pretty.

This reminds me why I hate crazy quilting.

I think they took this look, if it is one, too far. NO BO.

My daughter (the stylist) calls this look "Rich Hippie" - I call it sort of silly.

Maybe for $28.

Meh. I'm feeling more a mix of boho and preppy than boho and glam. At least not this version of bohoglamo. Patchwork makes me sads.

Can a retail store jump the shark? Because I'm pretty sure Anthro has. Before they launch new products, they need to ask themselves, "Is this really us--or is it a PARODY of us?"

it this one of those "to the trade" things that scare the hell of us laymen?

Brendan - Hello and welcome to this deliciousness!

DeLinda said...

oops - I see it's from anthro (I should read your notes more carefully Raina!)
Still, as an aside, "to the trade" as well as "price available upon request" still scare me - (they seem like traps)

this is so garage sale/college lounge - I'm mystified by the price - perhaps that is the cost of nostalgia?

As is, it's not so pretty. But the base sort of rules. I'd like it if they toned it down with a more low-key modern quilt look, like something from Denyse Schmidt.

I agree with nanne and ajt above. Love the base but in a different fabric and a big BOO HOO to the price! They are out of their minds on their prices!
