So... Calypso

 Toddler tunic in Berry, $12.99.

I finally made it to a Target to check out the Calypso St. Barth collabo.  I looked at every last thing and came away with a tunic and a dress for my 4-year-old.  To say I was unimpressed is a gross understatement.  While I was hoping for Robshaw-ish prints, most of what I found looked to be summer close-outs from your friendly neighborhood headshop.

Girls' ombre dress in Aqua, $16.99.

Bri of Me, You and a Wiener has a much more entertaining tale (with illustrations!) of her quest for the elusive metallic pouf.

Who else has checked out the Calypso collection?  What did you think and, more importantly, what did you buy?

Bahhaha well at least the pea made out good, those two dresses are mighty fine!

I keep hearing from other peeps that their Target hadn't even put anything out yet. Bad, considering they had a huge sign with the date launch!!!

I got off a plane from Charleston and went straight to a Target on May 1st. I probably got there around 11:30 AM. No poufs at all. I think I saw plates, but I'm pretty sure they were melamine. I was so sad about the lack of poufs that I didn't bother with the clothing. I just left.

Yes, Bri's take on anything is always more entertaining than my take. I haven't even been to Target yet to check out said lack of merch. Oh well. Sounds like I'm not missing much!

Meh. I don't want to buy cheap knock-offs of high-end merchandise, even licensed cheap knock-offs. It's just not a good value.

I nabbed two silver poufs!! - they're neat and look cool (I don't care they're knockoffs, they are vegan and were $59.99 each - (Got there when they opened.)
Also bought a large mental lantern- I liked the shape.

DeLinda - The large lantern is good. I forgot about that one.

I too made a special trip to my local Targaaay to check this out. So totally unimpressed. Cheap fabrics, not much was wearable. But did buy the long ombre' skirt for my 26yr. old daughter.

Thanks Raina! I was also underimpressed with most of the grown up clothes (I did like the long ombre skirt and I am considering a tunic - if they go on sale). I thought the kid's stuff was cute. In general, Target clothes are not of the best quality - but we all demand cheap price tags, don't we....

DeLinda - I've always wondered why for about the same price H&M's clothing is so much better than Target's.

I got a pink and orange silk tunic that fits great over my 6-mos-pregnant-tummy. The quality seems the same as on my normal Calypso stuff... And I got an elephant tunic for baby-to-be!

Raina- so true about H&M (maybe because clothes are their speciality) - but for some reason I don't like the shopping experience at H&M while going to Target is always fun!
