Match (needle)point

Your favorite WASP-inclined Heeb and mine, Jonathan Adler, has joined with legendary prep outfitter Lacoste to put his signature twist on the iconic polo. For the company's annual holiday edition, Adler has created three shirts: "The Special Edition gives the croc a needlepoint look in a puff print. The Limited Edition [...] is a tweaked version of the Lacoste 12.12 style, featuring a hand-stitched croc that comes packaged in a bargello embroidered tennis racket cover (shown above). Then there’s the Super Limited Edition - [...] 12 allover needlepoint polos [each taking] 400 hours to complete." The SLE comes in "large croc-shape boxes in [Adler's] signature white ceramic and brass."

Love L'Adler, hate the overgrown alligator logo.

As a needlepointer, I'm thrilled every time JA churns something out in my medium. But how the hell do you wear needlepointed polos? They would be superstiff, not to mention a little itchy...

Maybe I'm just not enough of a Lacoste superfan!

I love Jonathan Adler. Even when he's being ridiculous, he's so darn happy about it.

Needlepoint Lacoste shirts? Anyone who came of age with The Preppy Handbook can appreciate the irony.

Petra Voegtle - There are 12 shirts that will be made entirely of needlepoint. I'm guessing these will be more art pieces than weekend wear.
