My interview with Robert Novogratz

Head on over to Curbed National to read my interview with Bob Novogratz
of 9 by Design and Home by Novogratz fame!

Although part of the Novogratz's charm is watching their incredibly entertaining family dynamics, and disappointed not to see that in full force, I respect that they need to change as the kids grow, but showcase their design. Will most def watch them, and like their approach to design--it awakens my brain from decorboredomland.

Like the "Stark Paint" line already.

Keep Novogratzing and Carry On. (Good interview, BTW.)

I never watched their Bravo show, but was really put off by the first episode of the HGTV venture. Spending $40K on the interior of a Far Rockaway beach fixer-upper while the second-floor deck is visibly sagging? Bob blithely snapped up a $3K surfer collage and Cortney laid out serious dough for a blue SMEG fridge and a retro pink range, all while ignoring the fact that the first surfer sister to step on that deck might just plunge to her death.

I also can't get past Bob Novogratz's eerie resemblance to Quentin Tarantino. Creepy!

@ Madam Pince: Couldn't agree more. It's as though there were no lessons learned from the flip crazy fiasco the country just went thru. If people had concentrated just 50% of their renovation efforts on insulating, weatherizing, buying quality instead of quantity, and other choices that create actual value, the results would have been quite different. I'm surprised that the Novogratz's and HGTV are still swept up in the "Extreme Home Make-Over" mentality. Oh, well.
