Dear Mad Men set designer

You cannot fool eagle-eyed design bloggers. We do not want to see home accessories from big box retailers on the Holy Ground that is the Mad Men set. Don Draper's decorator would never use a lamp shade with wonkily stretched fabric in his master bedroom. Never ever ever.

The $16.99 MaM-Hardback Lamp Shade Medium from Target.

There was a fight in my twitter feed on whether or not recessed lighting had been invented yet.

Robin - According to Wikipedia: "The earliest recessed lights were developed in the 1930s by lighting pioneer Ivan Kirlin."

THANK YOU Raina! I was wondering why that lampshade was bothering me! Incredible oversight, ug!

I would love to expound further on how very wrong that lamp and even that chair look in this scenario.
But alas my overarching thought is of how wrong that strange woman looks leaning over the Hamm sandwich.
You see, that should be me instead and no one else will do, I'm afraid.
Sorry ladies ;P
Cheers, Alcira

AYFKM?? Wow. I was too entranced by Mr. Hamm Sunday night to notice the ridiculous lampshade. Not cool.

Brilliant catch.

Now, about Mr. Hamm, speaking of brilliant catches...

OMG.. you did a Mad Men related post... OMG... *is hyperventilating*

I'm so into this show and now to have you - my favorite interior designer blogger - referring to this is totally making my day!

And shame on the set designer for trying to get away with this!

I have to (shamefully) admit though that my attention is less on the home accessories and more on the deliciousness that is Don Draper, especially when said man is lying on his bed #just saying

KUDOS to you for spotting this faux pas!

Amen! There were so many deliciously uncomfortable moments in this ep, but there was nothing at all delicious about that lampshade. What an odd faux pas from the MM people.

Thank you for this post! I thought I couldn't possibly have spied a Target lamp shade in the otherwise so meticulously styled Mad Men. So, I checked out the Target website and there it was. I wasn't imagining things after all. The crooked fabric was the dead giveaway. I can't BELIEVE the set decorator got away with that. Very disappointing. Some things are just so wrong.
